Cook the Book: 'Farm to Fork'
Emeril Lagasse is one of the most universally recognizable figures in the world of food personalities. He has the power to influence the way people eat. (Remember all of the gaaahlic we were eating back in the Emeril Live days? Yeah, baby.)
Emeril's latest offering, Farm to Fork sets out to change the way we're eating in a slightly different but equally delicious manner, steering his devoted fans towards locavorism. Farm to Fork is Emeril's guide to enjoying seasonal, local produce, prepared in a straight-forward manner for the home cook.
The dishes are simple, and the techniques don't require much beyond the basic skills. Combining this simplicity with the freshest produce makes for some distinctly elegant recipes. Meat is kept to a minimum in Farm to Fork. Most of the time it's used as an accent to the vegetable-heavy dishes.
Everyday this week we will be sharing recipes from Farm to Fork and taking full advantage of the gorgeous summer produce available. We will preserve summer tomatoes in a Spicy Tomato Jam, enjoy them fresh in a Tomato, Zucchini, and Leek Galette, and get our corn fix with a Corn, Tomato, and Lobster Salad.
