Video: Inside-Out Grilled Cheese Sandwich

OK. So I don't know what inside-out grilled cheese sandwich would translate to in the slightly twisted minds of some SE'rs (ahem), but the face-value, real-deal version looks pretty good—cheese melted and toasted on the outside of the bread, too. Yet again, it's one of those simple tricks that seems so obvious after the fact.

Of course, many of us may quibble with Chef John of Food Wishes, who's demonstrating the technique here. He says there's only one cheese for grilled cheese — cheddar. We took a poll not too long ago asking "What kind of cheese do you like on your grilled cheese?"

The results are interesting and could be interpreted in many ways. Cheddar certainly is popular (26% as of press time), but "a mix of cheeses" polls ahead of cheddar at 28%. Don't like those results? Go rock the vote »
