Fresh Food on TV: Weekday Edition

Let us sort it out for you so you don't miss anything worth watching. Times may vary with region (especially PBS shows); check your local listings for exact hour and channels.

Monday (February 8)

The Martha Stewart Show: "Romantic Recipes with Chef Ben Ford." Ford, chef at Ford's Filling Station in Los Angeles, prepares a Valentine's Day menu of herb-roasted hen, polenta fries, and chocolate pudding cake. Check local listings

Good Eats: "Art of Darkness II: Cocoa." There's lots of chocolate-themed TV going on this week in preparation for Valentine's Day. Alton uses Dutch process cocoa to make hot chocolate, brownies, sorbet, and chocolate syrup. 8 p.m. ET, Food Network

Cake Boss: "Castles, Cannolis & Cartoon Characters." Buddy and Mauro travel to Disney World to make cannolis for the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. 9 p.m. ET, TLC

Ultimate Cake-Off: "Top Dog." Master bakers compete to create the most impressive cake for the American Kennel Club and win $10,000. 10 p.m. ET, TLC

Diners, Drive-ins and Dives: "By Request." Guy Fieri checks out viewer favorites and discovers some hits: a double-burger in North Carolina, grilled cheese sandwiches in Ohio, and shepherd's pie in Texas. 10 p.m. ET, Food Network

No Reservations: "Hudson Valley." Bourdain travels just 60 miles from Manhattan to discover beautiful scenery (and great food) in New York's Hudson Valley. 10 p.m. ET, Travel Channel

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon: Chef Eric Ripert is a guest. 12:35 a.m. ET, NBC

Tuesday (February 9)

Mexico One Plate at a Time with Rick Bayless: "Triple Torta-Thon." Rick experiments with lots of tortas: salt cod Bacalao, Cuban-style with chorizo, and a meaty pork-and-ham filling. (repeat) 7 p.m. ET, PBS

Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home: "Salmon." J. and J. make salmon tartare and salmon baked in parchment (en papillote), which they inflate using a bicycle pump. (repeat) 7:30 p.m. ET, PBS

Last Restaurant Standing: "The Singles." Raymond creates a Valentines-themed double challenge for the remaining couples: prepare a romantic take-out dinner for two, then host a singles night. 9 p.m. ET, BBC America

Chopped: "A Nori Story." The chefs get flustered when the entree basket includes fish and cheese—generally a big culinary no-no--and dessert involves pumpernickel and curry. 10 p.m. ET, Food Network

Wednesday (February 10)

The Martha Stewart Show: "Chinese New Year." Festive banquet-style recipes from chef Joe Ng of New York's Chinatown Brasserie. Check local listings

Lidia's Italy: "Flora and Fauna." Lidia visits a friend's farm in Le Marche and prepares lamb with olives and stuffed quail in parchment. (repeat) 7:30 p.m. ET, PBS

Throwdown with Bobby Flay: "Paella." Bobby's off to Northern California to challenge the Paella Man. Will his multiple-pan technique really work? 9 p.m. ET, Food Network

Thursday (February 11)

Good Morning America: Rachael Ray prepares Valentine's Day recipes. 7 a.m. ET, ABC

Live with Regis and Kelly: Kelly stops by NYC's Momofuku Milk Bar to sample sweets for the show's "Chocolate Challenge Week." 9 a.m. ET, ABC

Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home: "Roasts of Veal and Lamb." In this meaty episode, the chefs show how to make, carve, and serve leg of lamb and veal with wild mushrooms. (repeat) 7:30 p.m. ET, PBS

The Best Thing I Ever Ate: "Chocolate." Everyone's chocolate-happy with Valentine's just two days away. Alton, Duff, Tyler Florence and others share their favorite chocolaty treats. 10 p.m. ET, Food Network
