Watch It with Us: 'Top Chef Las Vegas,' Ep. 8
Tonight at 10 p.m. ET, come join us as we watch the eighth episode of Top Chef Las Vegas. The tension escalates between the Voltaggio brothers when chef-restaurateur icon Charlie Palmer shows up to judge the Quickfire. (Both boys have worked with him, though Michael is nervous that he likes Bryan more.) And what's the deal with Robin? Is she just there to tick everyone off? Jump in the comment thread as the episode unfolds.

Who do you like better, Ashley or Robin?

Ugh, don't trust anyone under 30.

haha after the elimination palmer may not like michael... since he ignored him.
i don't really like robin, but c'mon. at least be respective, especially when youre 25 and still living at home with mommy.

hah, my predicted top 4 for this season was the top 4 of today's episode! they have been the most consistent ones. Mike V's cocky attitude is starting to come out. Bryan just seems much more secure in his skills and cooking. Jen made a good comeback and being classically trained by Eric Ripert really tells me that she has what it takes. But more and more, I think Kevin will eventually end up on top.

First off, if Kevin doesn't win Top Chef, the whole thing is a sham. He's quite obviously the best and most consistent one in the bunch.
But more importantly, as irritating and passive/aggressive as Robin may be, Eli and Mike showed absolutely zero class this episode and I am now actively rooting for their elimination.
Eli, she's right. Clean up after yourself. Your mommy might hand-scrub your skid-marked Underoos at home, but in the real world, chefs leave a clean workspace.
Mike, show a little f*cking class in the stew-room. She should go because you don't like her, regardless of her food? F-U, pal. I haven't liked you since day one. Your forehead looks like it's wearing a muscle-shirt.
I have never disliked a bunch of Top Chef contestants as much as I dislike most of these clowns. Blyech.

Is it just me, or does Lorraine(sp?) always look like she is about to fall asleep? There is something I find strangely sexy about her, but it seems she just ate a huge bowl of warm comfort stew laced with ambien.

"The difference between a shaved armpit and a hairy armpit...now we know we're in France." Toby comes up with the most interesting comments.

I don't mind Eli. Robin does seem like she is a bit much. I want Mike to go more than her.

Eli's a little twerp with a napoleon complex. I hope to see him gone very soon. Seriously immature and annoying.
Robyn, as much as she would annoy me if I was there, wouldn't piss the hell out of me like some of the other aholes. it seriously's become, all the cool kids picking on the outsider (though it seems like kevin's at least trying to stay out of it)....

i cant stand robin. she should have been sent home along time ago. i mean her dish had no pork taste they said..atleast you could get the essence of pork from ash's dish i think robins there for drama. eli and mike may be rude but hey everyone in the house is annoyed with her. she's there for one reason 'sympathy card"

I know Robin personally, not as well as I know her mother, for whom this must be painful to watch. (It's painful for me.) All reality shows are about casting and editing. Robin was cast as the bothersome old lady, and lately edited as the woman you love to hate. This whole drama would play differently if the actors were all in their forties and enjoyed similar levels of maturity.

I was pretty turned off by Eli and Mike V's immaturity in this episode too. I was still mad at Eli for aiding in Ashley's elimination last week but he certainly didn't help this week. It seems like the only level headed guys in the group are Kevin and Bryan.
Anyway, immaturity aside, I agree that the top 4 contestants of the whole season were the top 4 this week. Even though I don't eat pork, all of their dishes looked and sounded good. Though did anyone think Bryan's dish looked exactly like his steak dish from the camping episode?
Overall, I hope Kevin, Jen or Bryan win. Mike V needs to chill out about why he is better than his brother.
Chew on That at 4:16PM on 10/15/09
@Chew: Mike V needs to chill about this whole "I'm the best chef in this season" attitude. It was almost like Stefan last year, except Stefan was winning challenge after challenge. Mike V even looks down on his own brother!
I really feel the top 2 would be Kevin and Brian. But who knows! I never thought Josea had any chance of winning last season!
paolo at 6:26PM on 10/15/09
My two cents...I have not been as into the show this year because it seems to have taken such a nasty soap opera-ish turn...this started last year with the Josea/Leah thing. I can't stand for people to be down right mean and hurtful, whether the person deserves it or not. I can't imagine being Robyn and watching this now to hear the contestants talking about her behind her back. What horrible rotten people. She is still there and there's no one to blame for that but the judges. Anyway that being said, the only contestant I am rooting for is Kevin, he's the most consistent so far and he looks like Yukon Cornelius. LOL.

I'm also getting annoyed by the increasing emphasis on drama (which I too suspect is largely created by editing) over food- with this few contestants, we should see what everyone has prepared.
