Ed Levine's Serious Diet, Week 89: Will No Thinner Make Me Fatter?

We left New York yesterday, headed for rainy and windy Cape Cod without my trusty scale, Thinner. I believe this is the first time in 89 weeks that I have hit the road without him. I have no excuse, so I'm just putting it out there right now.

The real question that needs to answered be posthaste is this: Will no Thinner make me fatter? Will I use Thinner's absence as an excuse to go crazy, knowing I won't have to face Thinner's wrath until Tuesday? After all, my daily weigh-ins on Thinner, and of course my weekly weigh-ins on this weekly diet post, have functioned as a very effective governor, thwarting my tendency to binge.

You might think I forgot Thinner because I didn't want to face him (and all of you) this morning. After all, we had a monumental New York cheesecake tasting on Wednesday at SE World HQ, which could and might have tipped the scales in fatter's favor. Except it didn't.

The Weigh-In, Sorta

When I got on Thinner yesterday (Thursday) I weighed 216, up a mere pound from last week, so I was well within range of staying even for the week.

Maybe I can do without Thinner for the next three days. If all those blind bites of cheesecake didn't do me in, maybe, just maybe, I have learned to control my binging.

I guess we won't have to wait long to find out. I'll be back at ya next Friday, same time, same scale. I hope knowing that I have to face Thinner and all of you in seven days will govern my eating habits this weekend. That means I have to avoid the siren call of Mrs. Blake's pies. Wish me luck, serious eaters.
