Pepsi Throwback Coming Back December 28

Due to popular demand, Pepsi Throwback is making a comeback. As you may recall, Throwback is Pepsi made with cane sugar rather than HFCS. Throwback will reappear December 28 for an eight-week run. If Pepsi Co. were a little smarter, it would extend the period through April 6, to cover Passover. See also: A Beginner's Guide to Passover Coke. See also: Rob Walker's piece on Mexican Coke. Pepsi Throwback is not very good. Also, I doubt there's a significant difference, but I remember Passover Coke having a better taste and carbonation level than Mexican Coke. Mexican Coke is still delicious, and thank goodness they stock it at my local wholesale warehouse club. (Sam's in my case).

@Julian: I don't know. I thought the Pepsi Throwback tasted better than Pepsi Here-and-now. I'm a Coke man, but the Throwback wasn't that bad. Reminded me of the stuff I drank as a kid (my parents were/are Pepsi people; somehow I defected). But, yeah, this news for me ain't too useful, since I stick with Coke — especially the Mexican Coke I can get at a certain secret place near my home.

I liked Pepsi Throwback. I like it better than Coke, even. (Have you seen that the label on Mexican Coke now lists sugar OR high-fructose corn syrup?)

i thought it was called "pepsi raw", no? "throwback" sounds... off-putting.

I love Pepsi Throwback! I've been hoarding it for months. It's a sweet sip of my childhood

Yay! This is great news. I am not a soda drinker myself, but my husband hoarded the stuff last time it came out.

Throwback is different from Pepsi Raw/Natural: Wikipedia. In Throwback, only the corn syrup is replaced with sugar, whereas Raw has more natural ingredients.

I love Pepsi Throwback!

If you're a Pepsi fan, give this a try. While the flavor isn't drastically different from HFCS Pepsi, it has a cleaner feel in the mouth and a crisper finish. I've found myself over the past few years staying away from HFCS soda due to the aftertaste and sticky feeling it leaves behind.

It's great that Pepsi seems to have listened on some level to its customers and is bringing it back. Hopefully it will be available permanently.

Yes. I will give Pepsi credit there. They are listening. Unlike the Coke people, who surely must know there's a demand for cane-sugar Coke and yet seemingly ignore the market.

"If Pepsi Co. were a little smarter, it would extend the period through April 6, to cover Passover."

If Pepsi were a little smarter, they would regularly use real sugar, not HFCS in their drinks

I liked Throwback when it first appeared, and am very glad it's coming back. The taste is so much better than the HCFS version, less "bitey" on the palate.

Pepsi....just make it all the time!! Don't you read? Boylan's, Jones', etc etc....the public wants cane sugar sodas!!!

Does anyone know if Pepsi Throwback is available in Canada? I've never seen it anywhere here....

Just finished my last can of Pepsi throwback, so this is good news! I hope they bring back Mountain Dew throwback too, which tastes like a refreshing lemon-lime drink with the cane sugar, instead of liquid sugar normally.

Julian (1st comment above) must not have any taste buds because regardless if you like Coke or Pepsi, Pepsi throwback tastes clearly different from HFCS Pepsi. Its like night and day. I have been a coke drinker for years, but after drinking Pepsi Throwback I am now converted. I even taste tested Mexican Coke vs Pepsi Throwback and Pepsi Throwback won for me. I have converted a ton of my Coke drinking friends as well. I think Julian should give it another try.
Thank goodness its coming back. I have 18 cases left and now I can buy more to last until the summer. YAY!!!
