'Eater' Blog Offers $25 to Other Food Bloggers Willing to Quit

On Eater's new national blog, which launched today, a post states that the editors there are offering $25 to any food blogger willing to "cease all publication of foodie rambling, blabbering, and drooling over ridiculously mundane foodstuffs."

There are some I would like to see take Eater up on this offer.

The leccipes (post pics and no recipe/hints on how you made it, whom I think at least 40% of those are full of shit and swiped the pic and never prepared anything at all)

Regurgitators of the same thing over and over One of the first food blogs I ever started following almost 4 years ago is in a pattern around the drain because the person buys ex. carrots and the does two weeks of carrot recipes. They won awards, traffic in the past but they have gone blah and it is showing.
Last year after many daysof pea shoots I stopped going. OH GOD PEA SHOOTS AGAIN! Stella get your groove back on then come back and see me!!!

Foodie Hero worship Now I love to talk to foodie folk same as anyone but let's not get insane and ONLY ever talk about chefs and food stylists and what they made and not what you are making. Fan people should not do food blogs they should do fan blogs.

cupcakes/cake mix/tablescapes devotees People who devote whole food blogs to cupcakes/cake mix/tablescapes turn in your foodie union card at the door. You helped ruin this thing, you proved your point that you could ruin it, now move on. Try kite building!!

I also think another stipend should be afforded to our foodie wackos, asshats, wing nuts, stalkers and major nutcakes. These people also helped ruin the food blogaverse and they should not go without recognition and a coupon for a free colon cleanse or other suitable parting gift. John Pardo tell them what they have won...

"the editors there are offering $25 to any food blogger willing to "cease all publication of foodie rambling, blabbering, and drooling over ridiculously mundane foodstuffs"?????
$25? LOL
ridiculously mundane foodstuffs is a joy in life :)

@Jerzee : I agree that Foodie Hero worship is really hard to relate to and the title is misleading.

Damn.

I shoulda waited a few months. ;P

Seriously? They want people to quit doing something they enjoy for a measly $25? How about this - if you think a blog is crap, don't read it. I know, I know, it's such a stunningly groudbreaking concept...

Well, I looked at their site and saw zip that interested me. Recaps of Iron Chef with huge pictures... not interesting at all. So, will they be taking their own $25?

I'd pay Eater $25 to fire their LA editor/hack.

One of the commenters has offered Serious Eats 10K to shut down...who are these interwebz foodie better-thans?

Considering their heavy Food Network ad load, I don't think they should be telling anybody what should and should not be said about food. pffft.

Just started blogging, I'm pretty relaxed about it and it's more of a hobby than it is an eccentric fad. www.chopchopchew.com is the site let me know if i'm TOO much of a foodie or if I just love food

Very funny!
My nogo is bacon and pork. I'm sick of bloggers rhapsodizing over foul pig parts. Skim right past that now

I'm with Sugar Pies. I took a look and I saw the bottom of the barrel. The ad revenue from the Food Network must not be enough for Eater to hire professionals; everything on the site, from layout and design to writing and editing, is amateurish and juvenile and impersonal.

Who is Doc Chuck and why is he saying evil things about us SEaters?

Adam, please. I thought we were friends, but true friends wouldn't steer a friend to a schlock site. If this was your way of trying to get me to prove my loyalty to SE, know this: I am not an just an eater, I'm a serious eater. I will never abandon SE. I will forever be "rambling, blabbering and drooling over" all the "ridiculously mundane foodstuffs" you and my fellow SEaters choose to blog about, even if it's just toast. My heart (and my stomach and taste buds) will always be yours.

@ JerzeeTomato... AAAAAAAAAMEN.....

@ betteirene, I believe Doc Chuck used to be on SE as Doc____ something, but can't find any old posts. Needless to say I think he may be a bit disgruntled for misconduct.

Yikes! I just checked out that site and I don't think it is a huge assumption to state that the format is exactly like SE, and you are all correct about the Food Network stuff and this "pledge" thing is absurd. I would never entertain such a silly thing, I want to gush, at will, over anything at all, especially bacon (sorry). I want to ramble on about the joys of end of season tomatoes and I want to blabber about chocolate and drool over beautiful photos of food and then obtain the recipe and create it myself. I also want to share my mania with others like myself. I'll be staying here, thanks. I just love mundane foodstuffs.

I think you guys should take it. :P
