After that lineup of French chefs last week, nothing could seem scary. Not even a cactus.

I'm really glad that Mike doesn't get immunity in elimination.

"I'd rather put original flavors together than take the slime out of a cactus." zing!

@Julian: agreed!

I'm really enjoying both the level of talent in this season and the interesting challenges--the latter seem like riffs off of old challenges, but also taking advantage of the current location.

I want the Voltaggio brothers as my tentmates...

... and "three kinds of ceviche" in the desert heat makes me incredibly nervous.

Ceviche is becoming as ubiquitous as last season's scallops!

"Sucked on a piece of chlorine" vs. "Ew, bacon grease" vs. "This is disgusting..."

For once, a challenge I'm glad to be watching and not tasting!

I love horseshoes!

Robin's going home, I have a feeling. I'm sure the judges want to cut Mattin, but I'm sure the producers don't.

@ Julian. you took the words right out of my mouth! when mike won I went, thank god it's not immunity.

I think Robin's going home too, Mattin has had much better dishes in the past. though what he made today... it makes me lose faith in his capabilities.

oh wow! poor little mattin

I stand corrected!

Robin could have gone home as well, but Mattin should have been shamed into going home after serving a seriously messed up veloute to Joel Robuchon. How do you mess up a veloute(other than choosing to use overwhelming WF bacon.)???

Can't wait for an episode that doesn't involve ceviche, or "cevich". Sheesh.

Seriously, it is not 'top ceviche'. I am so over ceviche.

@michelle - veloute's one of those things that's easy to do, but hard to do really well, I think.

So glad Mattin has gone home! Obviously he is a lousy French cook!

I think the top 3 could be Jennifer, Michael and Bryan; they are proving to be the strongest chefs!

Love the brothers because they are KICKING ASS and from my hometown! MD stand up!!!!

Love me some Ashley

I think, on Top Chef, "ceviche" has become shorthand for "I don't know what else to do . . .. except marinate some raw fish." WIth the exception of the Voltaggio brothers and Jennifer, no one else seems to be able to wow the judges with a ceviche.

Title is off, right? Not a Masters ep. It was a good one, though. I liked Tim Love. Went to his FW restaurant in June. Really good.

anyone making ceviche at a cookout should be automatically sent home.

I agree with Carey Jones, all the challenges seem to be mediocre at this point. But the chefs did a great job - love that Ashley made it to the top again and can rebuild her confidence. I think she is going to make it far, along with Kevin, Jen and the Voltaggio brothers.

It was nice to have a game changer and take some of these guys out of their comfort zones. They all seemed scared of the grill.

No chili? No cornbread? Steaks? BBQ? all those things can be fancied up.. I was expecting Kevin to go this route, they all seemed stunted by the lack of a professional kitchen. One challenge that made me want to be on this show.

I was just happy to see Brian V. smile!

I can't believe they didn't send that old hag home who made the "drunken" prawns. Drunken is a great word and technique for a bourgeois, pedestrian chef, just like her! She also stated that she didn't taste her prawns untill they were ready to serve, smooth move. Yea Mattin messed up two challenges in a row but he showed real talent in other areas he definitely should have stayed on! I think there was serious pressure on the show not to kick all of the females off, all but one of them are lousy cooks.

I want Ashley in my tent!
