Video: Japan's Rabbit Cafe

20090904-bunnycafe.jpg

My days of dreaming about a place where I can eat bunny-shaped foods and then cuddle with a bunch of bunnies are over. This place exists! ...In Japan!

At this rabbit cafe, customers can eat plates of curry topped with bunny-shaped rice blocks and then go to a separate room of frolicking fluffy bunnies that you can pet and cuddle until your heart implodes with cuteness. You can also BYOB (Bring Your Own Bunny) so that your bunny can socialize with other bunnies. Food + cute cuddly animals = happiness. Watch the video after the jump.

Damn. I should roast a rabbit soon.

that's really sweet.
and such a good idea for people who can't have pets!
however, the charging per minute of cuddling kinda stinks, altho i have no idea what the conversion would actually be, so perhaps it isn't that bad afterall.
i was afraid that the cafe was going to actually serve the rabbit to eat!
the rice shaped like bunnies is much nicer. :)
now i really wanna pet a bunny.

The bunny with the crazy gray hair was awesome! Also, in the sense of bringing your own bunny to socialize not all that different from a dog park - except they are charging you by the minute.

I love how the one girl is sure to point out that bunnies are "different from stuffed animals."

it's a bunny brothel. :(

This was just one of the weirdest things I've seen--incredibly cute, but when the guy started to play cards with the rabbit...weird...

I'm with hungrychristel. I want to eat those bunnies.

gotta love the japs.

omg the little girl who is chasing after the bunnies is so cute lol

cat cafes have been there for ages.

"I'm going to eat the ear first! Heehee." Uh...

No cat shaped food, but we visited a "cat cafe" on our most recent trip to Japan : http://accidentalepicurean.com/2009/07/neko-jalala-cat-cafe-akihabara-tokyo/

Incredibly cute, but when one brings one's own rabbbit to socialize with other rabbits, what does one do if the result is more rabbits? Or does the cafe supply rabbit contraception?

Because the fact is, they breed like rabbits.

@annien - guess they'll never have to buy new bunnies!

Robyn can I tell you how WIN you are for posting this... I need to book a ticket to Japan right this very moment.

My rabbit looked like the one in the lower left hand side. Those are called Dutch rabbits. To this day I can't eat rabbit. I was a little nervous about reading this topic till I found out the bunnies aren't on the menu.

Hassenpfeffer on the hoof... er, paw.
