Come on in 'The Kitchn'

Each week we round up our favorite posts and recipes from our friends at The Kitchn.

This week, the Kitchn gets down with quinoa, an edible seed that's high in protein and prepared just like rice.
Also on the Kitchn, questionably safe Mexican vanilla, Ramadan foods, a brief primer on cow's milk, and a farewell summer poem.
- Is Mexican Vanilla Safe to Use? Some has been banned in the U.S. for health reasons; some doesn't even contain actual vanilla beans (gasp!); and some is delicious.
- Ramadan: When And What To Eat: Two main meals are served during Ramadan—the suhoor (before dawn) and the iftar (after sunset). Both involve fresh fruit, vegetables, halal meats, breads, cheeses, and sweets.
- All About Cows: Everything you probably need to know on the mooo-ing animal's milk.
- A Poem for the End of Summer: Poetry is good, and poetry referencing pears, apples, and grapefruit is even better.
