Happy 250th Birthday, Dear Guinness

Pull a pint and raise your glass: Guinness turns 250 years old today, marking a quarter-millennium (!) since Arthur Guinness took over a brewery at St. James's Gate, in Dublin... on a 9,000 year lease. (Here's hoping that gives us 8,750 more years of the black stuff.)
Honoring the occasion? Join drinkers across the world in a toast today at 17:59, Dublin time. (That's a minute to one in the afternoon on the East Coast. But nothing wrong with that—Guinness is good for you.)

Visited the brewery a few months ago. It's pretty cool. Yay, Guinness.

Got to love the bread of life.

It's a remarkable brew. Fewer calories than a glass of orange juice, less alcohol than Budweiser. Yet it does still fill you up.

Like the fine drink itself, a blessing and a curse: if not for Guinness, William Gosset would have had no reason to be interested in small-sample estimation. If not for Guiness, “Student” would have been able to take proper credit.

Mmmmm...muddy water and coffee grounds! I can't stand it but the hubs and his best friend call it mother's milk. Happy Birthday regardless.

Happy Birthday Guiness!!
I appreciate you as a drink in moderation.
I can't savour you all evening but I enjoy your creaminess once and a while.
For cooking? You're an unmatched flavour. No contest.
Not long ago munchin_out (new member btw SEaters) and I had Guiness and Garlic Mussels.
I would love love LOVE to try and make Jamie Oliver's Guiness-meat-pie someday when I get my hands on good stew meat and puff pastry.
