Frozen Pea Pops for Kids

If your kids don't like peas, maybe it's just because they haven't had them in frozen popsicle form. Weelicious shares a recipe for Peas In a Pop, a popsicle made of frozen peas and water. Apparently kids go crazy for them.

Curious to see what other pea-centric popsicle recipes exist, I came across Minty Pea Pops (also made of cream cheese, chocolate chips, and sugar) from The Toddler Cafe by Jennifer Carden. The recipe says that they taste like like mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Why so stingy with the links? Loosen up!

ewwww..... i don't think i would like that. extremely cold split pea soup >_

OMG, MINT AND PEAS IN THE SAME THING?

What? You couldn't include RABBIT and you'd have the TRIFECTA of foods I either hate or can't eat.

Need...to...navigate...away...from...page...

Not a fan of this idea.

Looks ghastly ...

Kids are smarter than that.

These won't make it very far on the market. The first time a late night snacking parent grabs one of these instead of a fudge pop , There won't be a store that can give them away.

It looks neat visually, but I would not want to actually eat that.

I would totally eat this! It reminds me of the popsicles from the Asian market my G-mom's partial to. Red bean (my favorite), green beans/peas, durian, jackfruit, and coconut were in heavy rotation in the freezer. I loved them with a freakish passion as a kid and still snag some when I visit. Mmm, frozen peas.

I used to love eating frozen peas when I was a kid, so I would have been down for one of these.

I think it's cute, and I'm also a fan of snacking on frozen peas, so I'm totally in.

My kids (and many toddlers I know) love eating frozen veggies (like corn and peas) which defrost very fast. I don't know if this would work so much though. Looks very cool though.

It gives me an idea though...how about frozen blueberries, raspberries or strawberries? That'd be neat!

i agree with gunbarrelgirl - kids are definitely NOT that stupid.

love frozen peas - thawed. I guess kids who like to chew on ice might like them, but I'd probably want frozen orange juice instead. Something with just enough sugar to make the ice softer - or kefir would do

@sweethunbabi: Great idea. I'd still maybe surround the blueberries or raspberries with a sweetened yogurt.

"Apparently kids go crazy for them. " I'm guessing only kids that are already crazy would go for them.

I would have gobbled those as a child- frozen peas, green beans and corn were favorite snacks, right out of the freezer. In fact I am really tempted to buy popsicle molds today and make these for my grown-up self!

I just threw up in my mouth a little

Plain, warm peas are bad enough. Having to lick through flavorless (or at best lightly pea-flavored) ice to get to rock hard frozen peas is not a good time in my book. If I was a kid, I would probably think that was some sort of cruel grown up prank.

When I was a kid, I used to throw things. I definitely would have thrown this.

At least these might have prevented the inevitable, "no, Jason! Don't stick those peas up your nose!" and the subsequent trip to the ER.

Hmm...That sounds horribly bland. You're basically giving your kid ice for a snack. My parents made juice popsicles and i'm sure any kid would choose those over these ice cubes with peas inside them.

is it April 1 again already!

Those of you who say "kids are smarter than this"- I suspect you don't have them or its been a while since your were toddlers. Their taste buds are in flux. They will eat the strangest things while sometimes refusing the most delicious.

Though I like peas and think this is creative, it also seems a little far fetched for me. Are kids really "going crazy" for these things?
