Each week we round up our favorite posts and recipes from our friends at The Kitchn.

This week, the Kitchn zaps potato coins in the microwave to make crispy, easy potato chips.

Also on the Kitchn, mini peanut butter Rice Krispie treats, Iron Chef-themed dinner parties, cakes for autumn birthdays, and scallops with tomatillo guacamole and corn salsa.

Well, I went to all the sites I could find from this link to get a real recipe for the potato chips, and got a lot of talk but no actual instructions. Can you provide such information as how much time at what power level? Thanks!

you know asian shrimp chips or krupuk? multi-colored, served with whole roast chicken sometimes? when raw, you can just stick em in the microwave on high; as soon as they start to puff up (they start as thin dense discs) just hit stop. no need to deep fry!

This is the recipe...cant get any simpler than this:

The method is so simple and effective we can't believe people aren't already shouting it from the rooftops: arrange thinly sliced potatoes in a single layer on a microwavable steam basket or plate. Microwave for three minutes at a time, decreasing the power level and flipping the potatoes with each round. Presto!

Thanks - I guess the regular potatoes work just like the purple ones. I'll try it soon, with and without the paper towels (I don't have a steam basket).
