Banh Mi Added to Virgin America's Menu
You know you're a big deal when you become airline food.

If you had any doubt that the banh mi trend had taken off, consider this: Virgin America is now serving banh mi on its in-flight menu. A flat iron steak sandwich with cucumber, lettuce, cilantro, and a daikon-carrot slaw, plus "Asian ginger dressing"—no paté, but we'll take it.

I don't know how I feel about airplane flat iron steak.

My brother made the prediction that Bahn Mi's would be everywhere next year from Pret to Starbucks to school Cafeterias. Looks like we'll be inundated with boring, overpriced imitation Bahn Mi's from here on in.

Last weekend on a Virgin America flight from LAX to JFK I had this sandwich for dinner. Considering it was airplane food and that it cost me 10 bucks it was pretty delicious. I poured the ginger dressing on and especially enjoyed the cilantro.
I'm not familiar with the banh mi trend/history or what a 'real' sandwich is supposed to taste like. But hey, if you are going to pay for food on an airplane...this is a good option!
