Video: 'Don't You Put It In Your Mouth' PSA

20090821-dontyouputitinyourmouth.jpg

If anyone can educate children to not put random things in their mouths, it's a singing duo of fuzzy, blue, demonic-looking puppets who don't have legs. Their message? If you want to put something in your mouth and you're not sure what it is, don't eat it unless a loved one tells you it's OK. And if for some reason you don't trust the words of the Blue Demon Siblings, the skinny lion puppet at the end should send the message home. Watch the video after the jump.

Don't You Put It in Your Mouth

This video was made in 1992 by Canada’s Concerned Children’s Advertisers. I think it would've given me nightmares if I watched it as a kid. [via Metafilter]

Serious dieting does not work. You have to change your eat habits for life
Personally I don't like seeing someone poking food into their mouth. Now that's a good way to diet" Looking at such photos puts me off eating.

Speaking as someone who saw that thing as a teenager, I'd have to say we all thought it was hilariously bad. But then they played it over and over and over, and I've been trying to erase that video from my memory for years. Thanks for torturing me with it again Robyn! :P

BAHBHAHAHAHA! remember this commercial like it was yesterday!

We used to have soooooo many perverted references to this song when I was a bit younger. Serious Good Times.

Thanks for the flashback Robyn!!!! :D

Poor beets get a bad press - went a bit off message at the end there!

haha! I also remember this as a kid and started humming the song in my head before even watching the video. They played it all the time! Going to be stuck in my head for days now. Thanks!

i still randomly get this song in my head! thanks guys.

No nightmares, but lots of dirty jokes. We still sing this song at random times -- you know, in between quoting Heritage Minutes.

Ugh, it's stuck in my head now as well. THANKS a LOT.

lol

Ahh! Such an integral part of my childhood!
