Endless Simmer picks the top 10 food finds at the Iowa State Fair, which took place earlier this month. The finds include foods on sticks, fried food on sticks, butter sculptures, and whatever the mystery cake above is that unsurprisingly won a first place ribbon in the Ugliest Cake competition.

Lame! Half of the list is stuff you can't really eat--it's just for display. You can't go wrong with the pork chop on the stick, though. My favorite fair food continues to be deep fried cheese curds.

*ugh*

that picture looks like something you may find inside a dirty diaper.

No offense kirkwilkins...I guess its one of the 'ugliest' ive seen LOL well-deserved title I assume haha

While that pork chop looks wonderfully tasty, the stick is totally not needed. I never eat my bone-in pork chops with a knife and fork (am I in the minority here?)...the stick would only get in my way of the finger-lickin', bone-suckin' goodness.
As for the chicken in a jar, there's absolutely no reason on this planet for the existence of such heinousness.

hmmm, that picture looks like a good contender for tomorrow's 'cakewrecks'

What an awful piece of crap!

i'm glad it won first place -- ugly doesn't begin to describe what it is.....

i hope it doesn't smell as bad as it looks....

Looks like a sex toy of some sort...

I've seen much worse looking cakes. Just go to any pot luck.

I noticed the phallic nature of the cake too. The color scheme is disturbing as well.

are those jalepenos?
