Oatmeal Brûlée

If your blowtorch has been getting dusty lately, don't worry. Oatmeal brûlée is a wonderful alternative to its custard cousin. Just make a normal batch of oatmeal (with old-fashioned or steel cut oats), sprinkle a thin layer of brown sugar on top, and fire away. If you're blowtorch-less, you can always go the broiler route.

OMG, what a great idea. Think about it - how much sugar can it take? A tsp.? Maybe even half a tsp.? But what an effect it has on a lowly bowl of oatmeal!! Any kid would want to dive in - heck, so would this 50 y/o!

We used to do this where I used to work. Tasty, yes, but $6 tasty? Not quite!
