Lamp Made of Drinking Straws

20090821-straws.jpg

[Moco Loco]

The Clutch Light by Scottish designer Scott Jarvie is made of hundreds of colorful drinking straws bundled together, based on the structural composition of trees. The resulting pattern looks pretty cool, or better put by Jarvie on his website: "The reflective inner surface of the straw transmits the light in a directional manner creating a jewelesque effect." I loved the cellophane straws of my youth - utterly useless as straws since they collapsed and were only about an eighth of an inch in diameter to begin with. They had wonderful transparent colors that I've loved ever since - or maybe i was born loving them.

Coolness!
Is it just me or does that look like a giant oreo mounted on the wall?

totally f'ing stupid! does this person have to work for a living, or does this person just sit around wasting straws? cause I need to get a job doing this kind of garbage!

Reminds me of those tests for color-blindness.

love it.
where/how can I get one? Make one?
