If you're planning on watching tonight's episode of The Next Food Network Star, join us here in the comments at 9 p.m. ET. It'll be an open thread—jump in with your comments, observations, or play-by-play as the episode unfolds. This week the contestants head to Miami: who do you think will be going home?

35 Comments:

Let's go kids. Maybe Debbie out smarts herself tonight.

Oh, Jamika. TMI!

Jamika and Debbie both struggled by Jeffery is back to be his star-in-the-making style. Melissa is doingwell, too. Come on, Michael.

Melissa says she grew up in a Spanish-speaking household, but why does she sound like Peggy Hill when she hablas the español?

Jeffrey really is a pro.

That "Meet me in the Lobby" scene really seemed forced.

UGH I feel like this entire episode is a Top Chef rip off.

@dixiesong3131: Re Top Chef rip off—right down to the "We headed down to Whole Foods ..."

Whole Foods is a sponser for both.

Jeffery's strategy is clever - let everyone build their own boats and see if they float.

@Adam Kuban: let's cook for a pilot and flight attendant in an airport (only they couldn't get Continental to sponsor this show), then let's stay up all night to feed a bunch of drunk partying fools in Miami. What's next: Michael and Debbie secretly making out on a couch?!

I still think that Melissa and Jeffery are the only two with any real hope of doing well in their own show. I think Debbie should have been gone at the beginning...hoping that she'll go tonight.

@Adam Kuban I cannot stop laughing, and now I am trying to think of every time Peggy Hill speaks "Spanish"

Michael ain't going to win with all his camera comments.

Debbie the snake is back.

Julie & Julia trailer. Cool.

Burn Debbie burn!

Wow, I can't believe Debbie tried to pull that over on the judges and in front of her peers.

Wow, interest in this show is going down like a rock in water.

Debbie better be going home.

I can't believe they kept Debbie, especially after the way she tried to throw the other girls under the bus. Ugh. Next week looks good though....maybe without Asian ingredients she'll actually cook something remotely original.

Aaarrgh Deeebbbbiiiiiie *shakes fist ruefully*

That episode blew. Review up soon.

@Adam Kuban: Ugh, all of them. ;-)

Review is up. This season is like watching a faucet drip - slow death. http://bit.ly/YsLow

@WannabeTVchef: I'm enjoying the video "The Man, The Chef, The Legend." Funny.

Dang it! You guys with cable! How do we become BFFs?

Ralph Pagano from Hell's Kitchen season one (2d place) got a cameo in the crowd.

Is the food network really about food?

How come no one watches the Ralph Pagano travel show, Pressure Cook, instead of this? Grr, Pressure Cook and Pagano and more interesting than most of these people

I loved Pressure Cook, but they took the station away!

that was painful to watch last night.
they all need to be put out to pasture.
i don't like any of them.
they should make the competition more about each of them trying to develop the show they'd like to create for themselves for FN.
teach what actually goes into making a successful program.
i'm so tired of backstabby nonsensical reality shows.
something that's actually sincere and honest would be so much more interesting, y'know?

jeffrey- he is the one that i want to win. he seems like a pro and he's easy to watch.
jamika- she's another one that i don't mind watching, but i don't think that she has the culinary talent to back it up.
melissa- she's very much like robin miller. except that she's very hard to watch. she seems like the controlling, ever so judging mother that I really don't care to see on a weekly basis. I know you like her, but please Bob, don't make her the NFNS.
debbie- oh, what can i say about her? i like watching her, but i think with the editing and what not, she's set up to be the next one to be gone. On top of that, she hasn't shown the southern cooking that I was looking forward to. Along with the 'throwing people under the bus' incidents since episode 1.

Dear Melissa-
Growing up with a Spanish speaking nanny is NOT the same thing as growing up in a Spanish speaking household. Unless, of course, your parents completely abandoned to to the 24-7 care of the nanny and only saw you on holidays.
