Rubik's Cube Sandwich

I love the '80s. But maybe not this much. The "Rubix Cubewich" contains "cubes of pastrami, kielbasa, pork fat, salami, and two types of cheddar."

But a fun presentation idea for a cheese tray!

Why not some tomato for a brighter red? And maybe some cucumber...
Takat at 3:46PM on 07/25/09
how do you propose one eats this?
thanks lou

Interesting find! I agree with Cary about it being a neat centerpiece for a cheese/meat tray.
In other news, anyone want my recipe for Pet Rock Candy? ha ha
swibirun at 4:30PM on 07/25/09
Hmm. I wonder if they made it anatomically correct? So that it is solvable?
nightowl at 4:40PM on 07/25/09
i'll eat it. no problem
dearrie at 4:40PM on 07/25/09
Haha actually, I just realized that isn't possible, since each part has two or more sides of the same "color".
nightowl at 4:41PM on 07/25/09
Mm...blocks of pork fat. Think I'll take a pass on this one. Not to mention the great revulsion I feel toward cheese in cube format. Something about it makes it more gross than usual.
feriorrenna at 4:57PM on 07/25/09
I'm a vegetarian and I love this--love 80s kitsch! And it doesn't have to be with meat only--I would totally make this with cheese or something else 'squareable.'
HeartofGlass at 6:26PM on 07/25/09
cucumber, hard boiled egg yolk, two kinds of cheese, carrot, roma tomato
or, for a dessert version honeydew, cantaloupe, plum, grape, banana, peach
nightowl at 6:42PM on 07/25/09
Looks pretty cool but I'm not sure if I'd eat this!
jlewfoodie at 1:18AM on 07/26/09
I would eat it...only I need to up the bread to protein ratio...perhaps thicker slices...no, no, no, 'twould completely throw off the dimensions...hmmm...okay, I'll eat it anyway! :)
wookie at 2:30AM on 07/26/09
Lose the bread! More pork fat!
marchpane at 9:22AM on 07/26/09
i'd take that bad boy down in one bite.
Ariel777 at 11:52AM on 07/26/09
Well executed! Bravo!
chanterelle at 9:10PM on 07/26/09
How charming would this be with multi-colored pieces of cake? A la the Mondrian cake? http://www.seriouseats.com/2009/06/whats-the-prettiest-dessert-youve-ever-seen.html
GreenBee at 9:41AM on 07/27/09
Finally, a Rubix that I could actually solve. Pick up. Put in Mouth. Done!
juliebugsmama at 10:14AM on 07/27/09
Dammit that mean i have to solve it before i eat
DO NOT WANT
too much work
samplelife at 7:49PM on 07/28/09
nightowl's right--it's not really a Rubik's cube if two sides on an edge are the same color. If you cut the mini-cubes diagonally, you could fix that. The corners would be more tricky--all three sides have to be a different color there.
skizziks at 5:21PM on 07/31/09
Breads, sausages and cheeses would be nice. pumpernickel, anadama, white, summer sausage, pepperoni, cheddar, provolone,
lemonfair at 3:45PM on 08/01/09
cool!
brigittesm at 11:53AM on 08/03/09
