Quote of the Day: Donut vs. Doughnut Spelling

Quote of the Day"...donuts are too awesome to be accompanied by an 'ugh.'" @thebookpolice

Even our dogs know the word donut. They stop what they are doing and tilt their heads. Keyword

Haha that's too cute! Nicely said.

Dough.
it's a Doughnut because it's made of Dough.

Donut looks like it should be pronounced DOOnut

Do you want a doughnut? No, I do-nut.

*groan* Kevster that was bad...and could go on the food joke section in some fashion. :P

Wow - I thought purposely dumbing-down language to be cool went out the door with Bush.

It's "doughnut". We spell something based on its etymology, not because its more convenient to spell phonetically. In a multicultural society like Americas, there'd be no end to the spellings of words.

Sorry adding the "ugh" is such a burden to everyone. Think of it this way - maybe the few extra clicks you have to do on the typewriter will help burn off that extra cruller...
