That White House garden isn't just for show—all sorts of veggies are feeding the First Family and friends, like these radishes and greens picked for the Congressional Spouses Luncheon. [via Flickr]

No way that many greens came from a garden planted that recently in DC and no way any idea of an organic idea could be even thought about. Have you seen the White House lawn....awful green. Naturally, No way!!! Ask a formal White House pastry chef. Never going to happen.

they didn't like my comment on the questionable origins of the staff pictured......is the one on the left the taster? jfitz

@pksmash - My thoughts exactly!

@jfitz, you need a dose of reality. Read Bourdain ... if they kicked the illegals out of the US, the restaurant industry would have a difficult time recovering from the loss of employees who will work without whining and have the focus to work consistently for long hours. Americans no longer have the gumption. It's a sad reflection on us that's unfortunately true whether people from this country like to admit it or not. Now, as to the folks in the photo ... do you honestly believe they've not been vetted to work there?? Puh-lease ...

Well, actually those greens could be ready in the WH garden. I think the better issue, though, is the symbolic note sent to the nation and the world about the value of growing your own and being conscious and thoughtful of what we eat. It's a winner.

LunaPier Cook : No shitake !

Michael Z : What would we do without " symbolic notes " from the
WH ?
