Now that we're somewhat close to five digits I'm putting on my Ashton hat and want to reach 10,000 followers. To that end, we're doing a series of giveaways from now until Follower 10,000 shows up. We've picked 10 numbers at random, from 8,550 to 10,000. so if we followed from the beginning, then unfollow you now, and then follow again so we end up in the 8550 to 10,000, does that count?

So longtime readers/followers are valued less? (Or not at all?)
First, I follow because I find it's of value to me, not so that I "get" something. The value is the content, not the 1 in 1,500 chance to win something once.

@cybele: Of course you're valued! We've been doing these impromptu giveaways at certain milestones—usually at the 1,000th mark. We'll also do some other impromptu Twitter giveaways that are aimed at quality rather than quantity.
