There's so much going on in Talk week to week that we almost can't keep up. If you're in the same boat, here's a small selection of topics and responses that have piqued our interest this week.

Favorite Grilling Recipes?

Look Who's Talkin'"All great ideas above, especially the beer can chicken, which is a staple at our house. To add: Fish tacos; ribs; tandoori marinated shrimp/chicken; stuffed tomatoes; jalapeños stuffed with cheddar cheese, cream cheese, garlic; artichokes, pineapple, portobello mushrooms, or any mushroom for that matter; zucchini, green beans, broccoli, corn, etc.... My opinion—if you can eat it, you can grill it!" GrimChef

Driving Across the Country — Please Make Some Restaurant Recommendations

"In Toledo ... since you also mention Cleveland I imagine you're taking the Turnpike. Get off at I-280 and head north. Just south of the Maumee River, get off at Front Street and turn right. The original Tony Packo's with their Hungarian sausages and sauce, mentioned by Klinger on M*A*S*H, will be on the right-hand side. Make sure to order the MOAD, or Mother Of All Dogs.

"If you want higher-end food, make a left off 280 onto that same Front Street, then a right on Main and an immediate left onto Boers-Boyer Way. The Docks will be on the right side. There are five great restaurants there including Cousino's Navy Bistro, Real Seafood, and Zia's. And if you have kids with you, the cargo musem ship Willis B. Boyer is just past The Docks and should be open for tours. LunaPierCook

5 Large Artichokes — Suggestions?

"If you want to use the heart, especially the big globes — you can always stuff it with shrimp or crab salad.... with a nice dijon vinaigrette or something.

"Of course you have to go through the whole steaming process and cleaning out the choke.... dip the leaves in whatever makes you happy and save the hearts!" pooch

Hello, Everyone!

"Hello and welcome from central California! Have fun—we always do." buffy

Buying New Knives

"Seriously—SqueezeBottle's right. I've been married 25 years and cooking daily all that time. My advice:

  • 1 really good paring knife: I love my new ceramic one
  • 1 good bread knife: serrated edges
  • 1 chef's knife: this will be your big ticket item. Get it professionally sharpened annually and learn to use your steel in between. Read the reviews and don't be afraid to spend the money

"Don't think you necessarily need the knife set block to complete your kitchen. They're hard to find space for. I like my magnetic knife bar that holds my knives - they're out of the way and safe up there." moibec

Memorial Day Menu Plans?

"Not too sure yet...grilling for sure. I also want seafood (mussels & shrimp). Tonight I'm making Tom Ka Gai, Dumplings and Moo Shu Vegetables. I know, not very "American - Memorial Day" but it's only Friday! One can only make so much steak, burgers, salads, etc. Think I'll save that for Sunday/Monday!" arm1970

When Smell and Taste Don't Agree

"I forced myself to eat a durian once. I'd rather eat crickets." Grumpy Old Man

I Hate You, Serious Eats

"Haha, oh the irony. We drool over virtual food while ruining the real stuff." Chew on That
