In Videos: The Donut Man

This video has been making the rounds on YouTube and looks like something from the early 1990s, at the latest. But no, the Donut Man is currently traveling the country (including upcoming shows in Philadelphia), teaching children that without Jesus, they are like a doughnut. I would think that being a doughnut would be a good thing, as one would always have a snack ready, but the Donut Man contends that by accepting Jesus, a doughnut hole gets placed the the empty space. What if you were jelly-filled to begin with? So many questions. Watch the video after the jump.

Um... wow. Flashbacks. I remember watching these videos in Vacation Bible School and i'm pretty sure he was the speaker at a Bible Camp i went to as a kid (mid-90's). This is completely serious... And i used to sing along... "We all have a god-shaped hole..."

Catholic elementary school sweet, yeasty, deep-friend Jesus-related gold right there, 4th grade just came flashing back to me.

Yesss!
I was in a Donut Man musical at my church when I was a teen. All the little kids did most of the acting and singing. I got to play Duncan the Donut himself!
I had a sore throat by the end of it from talking in a little squeaky voice and a sore arm from the puppetry. The hardest part was the one song I had to sing solo in the Duncan voice, about being tiny like a mustard seed.

OLD SCHOOL! Throwback to my evangelical poster child days. Now (and I'm still an evangelical) I find the logic somewhat faulty, but I still find a fond place in my heart filled by the Donut Man and company.

So that's why my parents wouldn't let me go to Catholic school with my best friend. :( They were afraid I would want to eat the doughnuts.

Awful.
He looks like a child molester.
I went to a Catholic school and thankfully we didn't have a donut man.
Get this maniac off of the streets!
