Free Food Alert: Ice Cream at Friendly's
Friendly's will be handing out free ice cream on June 6. Between noon and 5 p.m. at participating locations, customers can get a one-scoop cone or dish of any of Friendly's 26 flavors. Find a Friendly's here. [via NRN]

@juliebugsmama - I think you meant thank the gods they don't have friendly's here in the south. I used to get dragged to that dump all the time in Boston. I don't want a happy ending, I would have preferred a happy beginning; instead I got heartburn.

My first waitressingjob was at Friendly's - gross. Consider the fact that there is neither a stove nor an oven in the entire kitchen. Gross. Gross. Gross. And the entire management staff was either crack or meth addicts - this is not an exaggeration or a joke.
But, I do enjoy the entendre of their sundae being called a happy ending.

Gawd, never knew there was so little love for Friendly's! I dig their hot fudge, and the fish-a-ma-jig kinda rocks my world. I made the mistake of ordering the clam boat once. Will not do that again.

My band in high school would hit Friendly's after games instead of the diner. Some of the metabolically gifted could put away the entire 'gigantic' Reeces Pieces and Snickers sundaes that were served, not in parfait cups like the small ones, but goblets the size of a small child's head.
I haven't had it in more than ten years--I recall the ice cream to be pretty decent, but the 'real' food was not very 'real' looking, even no-brainer stuff like fries.
