Another Strawberry Idea
Earlier today I asked for strawberry breakfast ideas, but checking in on Market Scene contributor Leah Greenstein's site for the day, I think I've found a great strawberry dessert idea: Strawberry Rhubarb Clafoutis.

I've been making strawberry rhubarb steel cut oats recently. quick recipe:
1/2c steel cut oats
1/8c pearl barley
6 inch piece of rhubarb, peeled and sliced
4 large strawberries, or 6 small.
1.75c water
honey to taste
cook in a slow cooker overnight on low, ~8 hours or so. top with honey and serve.
the amount of water will vary depending on how hot your slow cooker gets. for normal oats, I use a 4:1 ratio of water:oats, but since strawberries and rhubarb have quite a bit of water, you will need less water than usual.
you can use other kinds of berries also, and you can also top with toasted almonds, peanut butter, or whatever you fancy. don't go to heavy on the peanut butter, a little goes a long way in oatmeal.
