What’s Your Favorite Weird Snack Combo?

20090421-nutellatostitos.jpg

Nutella and tortilla chips. Awesome apart. Better together.

I still remember the day I first discovered the harmonious union of Nutella and tortilla chips—a dorm room invention if ever there was one. A friend and I were lying around in beanbag chairs at around three in the morning, staring down his nearly-full jar of Nutella. We had run out of the potato bread we’d been spreading it on. He didn’t have any other bread, or crackers, or cookies, or anything remotely carby to slather with Nutella. And though we could have just reached for two spoons, we weren’t quite at the straight-from-the-jar phase.

That’s when it hit me.

I rummaged through the cabinet and unearthed a half-full bag of very stale tortilla chips. I dipped one into the jar—and Nutella Chips were born. The salty, crunchy chip proved the perfect counter to the hazelnut spread’s gooey sweetness. And ever since, tortilla chips have been my favorite Nutella vehicle. (Well, maybe second to street crepes in Paris.)

Of course, dishing up Nutella in salsa-portioned chipfuls leads to a pretty intense sugar high. But for an occasional nibble, it’s my very favorite snack. What are your favorite unusual snack combinations?

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich with Cheetos in between. Don't knock it until you've tried it yourself. Sweet, Salty... Delicious

French fries dipped in Chocolate milk shakes....I knew I'd found my mate for life when he said he did the same thing!

Marmite and peanut butter toastwiches. Sooo delicious.

A friend from school would eat salsa on a Nature Valley oats and honey granola bar.

peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches (when i was a kid, these were "alligator sandwiches"). i have also been known to dip pretzels into anything, but a favorites is a mix of raspberry preserves and dijon mustard. both are surprisingly delicious!

Putting pretzels in yogurt is pretty good.

Pretzels dipped in BBQ sauce, while drinking apple juice. A great trifecta.

@jujyfruit- My hubby & I do that with Wendy's Frosty's & fries! So many people (we found out) love that combo!

@jujyfruit- My hubby & I do that with Wendy's Frosty's & fries! So many people (we found out) love that combo!

A slice of ham or salami spread with cream cheese & horseradish
rolled up Tacquito style!

There were lots of popular odd pairings in my boarding school, but the overall favorite was a hot dog bun spread with strained yogurt and topped with crushed potato chips and sugar. Crunchy, creamy, salty and sweet, plus portable. Its the ultimate snack.

Dry ramen, crumbled up in a bowl and topped with ranch dressing.

Dry ramen, crumbled up in a bowl, straight.

Wendy's Frosty's and fries is definitely a weird-but-normal combo. My friends all did that in elementary school when we would go en masse to Wendy's after we got out early on Wednesdays so the public school kids could go to CCD.

apples dipped in spicy mustard. believe!

Chocolate chip cookies and cold cheap beer.

Here goes... I like gyoza sauce on the rice they serve at Japanese restaurants. It's a holdover from my days working at a Japanese restaurant. Not that this is an excuse. I have no excuse, except that it is incredibly delicious - even though it is a major etiquette faux pas in the Japanese culture on so many levels. (As a blond haired, blue-eyed Anglo, I worry about these things. A lot.)

So, it is with some level of shame and consequence that I persist in asking for it with my rice. I mean, how else am I going to get it my fix, right?

Believe me, it never goes without comment, accompanied by chastising and disapproving looks.

My little bowl of shame. I seem to have a lot of those lately.

Cheers,

~ Paula

cold leftover pizza that I would dunk in cold milk.
Also pretzels crumbled up in ice cream ....

Potato chips, preferably Ruffles, dipped in good old yellow mustard. So good.

Fritos and cream cheese. mmm craving some now

Drained cooked ramen, tin of anchovies, flavor packet. Salt upon salt upon chemical. But delicious.

Of course, there's no way I could keep that stuff down now, but as a college dorm-room snack, there was no better.

As a child, I would take a bowl of vanilla ice cream, stir it until it's almost like soft serve and then add crushed saltine crackers or Cheerios or I would use it as a dip for potato chips. There's something to that sweet-and-salty combination that I found irresistible.

Pretzels and grapes. Yum.

Cheese puffs dipped in peanut butter and then rolled in hot cocoa mix. Delightful!

Peanut butter and mayo on white bread

Apples & peanut butter; bananas & peanut butter; marshmallow fluff & peanut butter

@Paula Maack: Gyoza sauce can be made at home with shoyu, rayu (chili pepper sesame oil), and a wee bit of rice vinegar. You can add a bit of shichimi togarashi too. :) I'm Japanese and I kill my gyoza by letting them soak in the sauce, so there's an "excuse" for a sopping gyoza to sit on my bowl of rice, leaving behind some of that juicy goodness on my rice to savor later.

The scary thing about the pics on your blog with the cereal and snacks, is that I knew someone at work whose office looks like that, with 5 boxes of cereal and other candy. The fruity berry cruchfest sounds like a worthy sugarfest!

Hmm...

Mentioned this the other day - sour cream and onion potato chips layered with french onion dip spread thinly on sour dough bread.

Similar to the shakes/Frosty+fries, mixing strawberry or caramel sundaes with fresh out of the fryer french fries.

Loading saimin (popular local Hawaiian version of ramen) with french fries, letting the fries soak on the bottom, then eating them soppy.

Yogurt sandwiches... I use to eat them as a kid. So good!

Nutella on Ritz crackers.
Ruffle potato chips dipped in either cream cheese or ketchup.

and
My husband LOVES saltines dipped in ranch.

I'm not sure if this is REALLY weird, but my favorite snack after school were pretzels with a slice of cheese and then a dollop of french's yellow mustard. mmmm I miss it.

Spaghetti-o's and grape juice. My brother and I used to eat this a lot before I was old enough to use the stove. And french fries with mayo, but I feel like that one is not so weird.

Nutella and Ham Sandwich or Peanut Butter and Turkey Deli Meat Sandwich!

Kettle cooked potato chips with cashews.

Cold cheap beer & peanut butter (eaten from the jar with a knife). This is especially good after midnight during the week when everyone else is in bed...and you should be too.

Celery sticks and cocktail sauce!

cream cheese and bacon on a bagel.

I love to put salted peanuts on many sweet items - current favorite is peanuts on top of a cup of butterscotch pudding - creamy, crunchy, sweet, salty, butterscotchy....

i'm a fan of the frosty's and fries, its the sweet and salty thing..also chips and ice cream...

my fiance caught me eating dry ramen last night.. he was disgusted...

and ranch dressing on pizza..

and i've been known to put franks red hot on just about everything... its a sickness i think...

grapes and shrimp
salsa and carrots
peanut butter, celery, and apple sandwiches
rainbowchip frosting on graham crackers

Granny Smith apples and salt

bacon and chocolate

grilled peanut butter and maple syrup sandwiches

balsamic vinegar and strawberries with black pepper

Whipped cream (from a can) on Club crackers. I discovered this when I worked at a pizza/sandwich shop.

A friend swears by grilled american cheese & marshmallow fluff sandwiches, but I haven't gotten up the gumption to try such a thing. :: shudder ::

Frosty and fries is classic
Mustard and pickle sandwich on potato bread
Pretzels dunked in vanilla yogurt
Ritz crackers with sriracha

Gin and tonic...no, wait...

salsa on cold pizza
maple syrup to dip grilled cheese [with *gasp* real cheddar cheese(Tillamook is the BEST!), not KRAFT Singles]
pan fried grapes in pretty much any pasta dish
maple syrup in Manhattans (as a replacement for the vermouth) (called a Maple Leaf, very good but seems weird)

all I can think of right now. Happy eats!

peanut butter and tomato/cucumber sandwiches, peanut butter and white chocolate chips on crackers (ok, maybe not that weird)

this is making me nauseous:)

mine is a hard taco shell, filled with bagged lettuce mix and topped with salad dressing.

pretzels and peanut butter...yumm. eating it right now lol

i'm really too picky to have any extremely strange combos, but one of my mom's favorite snacks is fried pig skins topped with peanut butter and green olives. yikes!

Peanut butter and strawberry preserve sandwich with cayenne pepper

Peanut butter and anything
Whole grain pancakes and applesauce
Gnocchi and ketchup
Scrambled eggs, crushed tomatoes, and spaghetti

It's all about salty + sweet for me. I dip Bugles in cream cheese frosting. Or pretzels in either vanilla or chocolate frosting.

Fritos with cream cheese... YUM

eating baked beans using potato chips (preferably ruffles, they have more structural integrity so you can pick up more beans)

also, salt on watermelon

Warm chocolate pudding w/ chipotle powder mixed in
Not so much a snack food, but peanut butter on burgers...mmmmm

Beer (light beer) and ice cream. The slight bitterness of the beer enhances the sweetness of the ice cream, and the beer's fizziness contrasts well with the creaminess of ice cream.

Spicy brown mustard and baby carrots.

Haha that is awesome that you brought up the beer and ice cream. I just had a bowl of ice cream with a drizzle of a pale ale on top. I say it helps me study.

Nachos with peanut butter. An odd salty and sweet taste when I ran out of salsa.

Pretzmallows! Stolen snack idea from a dear friend. Take a marshmallow, sandwich between two bite-sized pretzels. Perfection!

Peanut butter and grape jam sandwiches with potato chips in between.

French fries dipped in apple sauce. Tasty.

Nilla wafers and American cheese slices made into wee sandwiches.

sushi rice & butter. peanut butter, mayo, pickle sandwich. hard pretzels with butter...i get high!

@hungrygrl7 - Pizza with ranch is not weird!! It is delicious - every pizza place in California offered ranch (at least when I was growing up).

When I was a kid I used to love eating saltines that I had dipped in a glass of water until they were soggy on the outside but still crisp on the inside. And of course, tortilla chips and ketchup.

nacho cheese doritos with cottage cheese, and fritos with baked beans.

Fries and a frosty! Also, ice cream with pretzels.

Peanut butter and carrots, and--not so much for a snack--Peanut butter and Egg sandwiches (best when the egg, basically made as a flat omelet, is still warm and heats the peanut butter to get it melt-y). Really though, could you go wrong with peanut butter in any combination?

vanillia ice cream and rice crispies is really good in the summer time

So glad to see someone else has discovered Nutella chips as well! I had my first taste of their incongruous glory on a drunken night in Austin.

One of my favorite combos is sun chips + Jack in the Box taco sauce. If you have the time for it, there's also Kool-Aid Pickles, and if you're brave enough I'd recommend a Chik Patty, Nutella and jam sandwich.

I love jasmine rice and parmesean cheese. My sister adores Crispix in hot tea.

my sister and I love to eat Lay's plain potato chips dipped in chocolate canned frosting. it's outrageously unhealthy but equally delicious!

BBQ chips with sour cream.

I'm surprised to see the variations on the peanut butter, mayo and lettuce (and sometimes bread and butter pickle) sandwiches I was introduced to by my ex.

WOW I'll bet we are all from different parts of the country (USA) and even the world and it's all about the salty/sweet combo. My guilty pleasure is any plain corn chip and peanut butter.

Also, drop a slice of swiss on a pb&j - dynomite!

saltines stacked with sharp cheddar and bread and butter pickles, and for something sweet, a nutella and cream cheese grilled cheese.

Hard boiled eggs (yolks removed) with with a dollop of hummus in the cavity.

frosty and fries! peanut butter and anything. mixing mustard and ketchup as a french fry dipping sauce. banana sandwiches with mayo.

my roommates and i make graham cracker sandwiches spread with vanilla frosting. one of my roommates grew up thinking that the normal way to eat cheese tortellini was in a bowl of milk with butter and salt. seriously that is the only way her mother ever served tortellini or cheese ravioli.

Air popped popcorn with salt, melted butter and powdered parmigiano reggiano.

vanilla icecream with cherrios
oatmeal, cornflakes, granola, banana, and rasins
goldfish and peanutbutter

cheez-its and a cold can of root beer!!

actually, at my high school, everyone's break snack would be hot cheetos dipped in the little cream cheese containers you were supposed to get with bagels... -shudder- i wrote off hot cheetos a long time ago.

i totally get it... one of my favorites is tortilla chips (generally stale) with PB and/or honey (or raw sugar if I have any). Delish! Also the mustard combos are a fav. it's all about the salty-sweet combinations that every chef will tell you are the ultimate palate pleasers.

slice of sourdough bread + honey + crushed White Cheddar Cheez-Its.
flavor and texture contrast = yum.

I have always adored the salty/sweet combination.
Pretzel rods with canned cake frosting.
Pancakes topped with an over easy egg & maple syrup. When you cut into the pancakes the yolk runs down into the pancakes, mixes with the syrup, and makes sweet, sweet noms.
But me and hubby both love cold Indian curry leftover sandwiches..Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer or whatever we happen to not completely scarfed the night before. Spread it cold onto 2 slices of 12 grain bread and feast.

@ Cassaendra: Thanks so much for the recipe and gyoza soaking/resting tip. What a brilliant way to sneak a little sauce on without anyone being the wiser! I love it!!!

Cheers,

~ Paula

Saltines spread with homemade Thousand Island dressing, make sure the dressing has tons of garlic powder (not garlic salt) in it.
Fritos drizzed with condensed milk then lightly microwaved, sounds like stoner chow, but it reminds me a bit of mee grob.

Peanut Butter and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Sandwiches. Not horribly weird but unbelievably delicious...

Yesterday morning I started off with plain yogurt, sliced strawberries and honey, pretty normal right? But for some reason, I was craving a contrast, so I sprinkled some grey fleur de sel on top and a new snack was born!

My best friend in high school introduced me to tortilla chips and cream cheese. I lurve french fries dipped in mayo, sweet jeebus, yes. And I will forever be a fan of sliced cheese melted onto saltines; this was a treat my parents prepared in the oven on a cookie sheet (full up with saltines because there were four kids to feed), but once we got a microwave when I was in high school, I'd make myself some cheesy saltines in 60 seconds. It takes even less time with today's super-powered microwaves.

But mostly? I snack on raw almonds. Swear.

So many fatties trying to justify their terrible fatty food habits in this thread. I mean... ranch chips slathered in ranch dressing spread on sourdough? Give me a freaking break.

Bleu cheese (the real thing, not dip or dressing) spread on potato chips. My dad taught me how to do it when I was about 4 years old and I got pretty good but licked the knife every time. He kept sending me back to the kitchen, imagining that I was washing it off, but I used every butter knife in the house. It's one of my first food memories.

SO gags whenever i buy fritos because he knows the only time i eat them is dipped in peanut or other nut butter. I agree the salty greasy sweet yumminess cannot be denied!

Room temp crispy bacon crumbled into peanut butter.

Nacho Cheese flavored doritos with saltine crackers (Zesta preferred)

One of my best friends in high school would eat little powdered donuts with salsa. (It had to be Pace)

Cottage cheese mixed with (preferably) salsa verde and Ruffle potato chips for dipping. Not too weird but it grosses my boyfriend out.

He thinks cottage cheese and pineapple with chips is the BEST ( Gross!).

Dominoes pepperoni pizza, with milk and Wise brand ruffled sour cream and onion chips. Used to eat it every Wednesday is Elementary school when we had Pizza Day.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich with Jalapeno flavored chips or Flaming Hot Cheetos. . .Salty, sweet, spicy, smooth and crunchy all in one.

Popcorn with junior mints

Chicken smothered in maple syrup-I like to think of it as "roasted chicken with a maple glaze", but really its a frozen chicken breast on my george foreman grill... coated with trader joes (or worse- ego) syrup. It is GLORIOUS.

My grandfather is the king of weird food combos:

Chocolate Cake and Liverwurst
Cruellers with a slice of American Cheese wrapped around it.
Oreos and Sardines

Hot and Spicy Cheez-Its with cream cheese. I'm sure it's a caloric nightmare, but it's delicious.

I have many. For exaple:

Gefilte fish (fresh — not that jarred monstrosity) with tehina and salsa
Multigrain tortillas with hummus and lemon
Dried apricots and cream cheese
Mashed banana with milk and jam
Pretzels dipped in milkshake or crumbled into hot cocoa and eaten with a spoon.

Put peanut butter on provolone cheese and then roll it up. The fat and protein will kill your hunger. Pan-fried provolone is really good by itself, too. And fresh watermelon and feta cheese together with some black pepper is a new summer favorite.

anything with contrasting flavors.

sweet jam with liverwurst and green olives

fritos and ice cream

cheez-its with peanut butter and mustard

When I'm visiting my parents I often raid their pantry - and generally come out with cheez-its and a glass of orange juice. I think the similar color palette and the acidity of the two are oddly comforting.

pickle bread -- good baguette dunked in the juice of really good german/imported pickles.

Triscuits with a square of american deli cheese topped with a pepporoni and a slice of jalapeno...then either zapped in the micro or lightly broiled...
or...
chopped jarred pimentos, chopped green pepper, mixed with cheese whiz on white bread...mmmm good.

Discovered during my starving student days - All I had in the fridge was hot dogs, homemade hummus, and soft tortilla wraps.

Now the hot dog-hummus wrap is a favourite, although usually secret, treat.

(The hot dogs were barbecued on a little camping stove, I can't eat them boiled.)

an onion bagel made into a sandwich with cream cheese and potato chips in the middle. i ate this every day for about 3 years in jr high/high school!

also cheetos and orange juice. mmmm

The (seemingly) most digusting sandwich on the planet (really it's the most delicious):
Toasted bread, red pepper hummus, american cheese, yellow mustard, dill pickles and salt & vinegar potato chips.

The best remedy for salt-cravings, EVER!

pretzels and cream cheese! actually, anything with cream cheese - i dare you to name 3 things that don't taste good with cream cheese...

rice and ketchup. sometimes topped with a fried egg.

saltines and grape jelly.

It started in elementary school with classroom birthday parties - chips, cheese curls, cookies. Everyone gets a sandwich bag to take everything home, so the cookies get bits of salt and cheese powder on 'em! Then it became bacon & grape jelly (must be grape) on white toast.

My friend introduced me to sliced banana on cheese pizza. so good. and not so weird if you consider people put pineapple on pizza all the time (gross).

My dad also has the horrifying habit of dipping doritos or cheetos into the jar of peanut butter, leaving behind cheesy orange streaks for whoever next tries to make themselves a peanut butter sandwich.

ok ketchup on subway sandwiches must be a norm cuz i have'nt heard it....

my friend would order subway then walk next door to the burger king and get ketchup packets. I always thought it was weird...

I like popcorn mixed in slightly melty ice cream....but seeing how everybody seems to like the french fry and shake thing i guess its not so weird :P

oyster crackers dipped in tartar sauce.

haha my grandfather used to dip pringles in nutella.

I love peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches, but don't think that is too weird.

Toasted peanut butter and tomato sandwich. Surprisingly delicious.

tayto cheese 'n' onions crisps (an irish variety) eaten with a plain cadbury's chocolate bar (must be uk or irish made, not the us-made hershey's version).

i also love marmite on hot buttered toast, which i know is something a lot of americans think is a weird food. it is also great in cheese sandwiches.

http://apricotcustard.typepad.com/apricot_custard/2009/04/marmite.html

i dip sour cream and onion ruffles potato chips in strawberry yogurt. its so weird..but so gooood. i love the sweet and salty!!

My roommates think I'm odd but I like to put salt on my fruit - I think its a vietnamese thing.
Green Apples, green mangos or slightly under ripe peaches with chili salt (fresh chiles mashed into salt until it turns pink)
Watermelon with plain salt

It brings out the sweetness
Also, sriracha on EVERYTHING - pizza, spaghetti, rice, saltine crackers...etc!

Jalapeño bagel with cream cheese and flamin' hot Cheetos
Peppercinis while drinking milk
I'll dip doritos into just about anything

Cinnamon on plain yogurt, popcorn dipped in honey/agave/salsa/hummus/laughing cow cheese/whatever's around!

I love:

White Bread
Butter
Peanut Butter
Ice Berg Lettuce

The lettuce makes the peanut butter not so dry.

It's my go-to comfort sandwich

A bowl of frozen grapes doused with butter-flavored cooking spray (I know, I know...WTH???) and then dusted with cinnamon. Was born out of my love of frozen grapes and a need to rid my pantry of the spray. Now I love it. I could eat 4 pounds of grapes in a sitting that way, if my digestive system would allow.

As a kid in junior high, I dipped Funyuns into chocolate soft serve and called it lunch. I guess that's somewhat similar to the french fry/frosty combo.

banana and Miracle Whip (mayo) sandwich on white bread

this topic again!?!?

sliced bananas and sour cream in a bowl...eaten with a spoon

-Cooked ramen noodles with an equal amount of grated light cheddar on top, with seaweed crumbled in

Snickers and Lays potato chips. Slightly freeze the Snickers bar. Cut into thin slices. Place a Snickers slice on top of a potato chip. Salty. Sweet. Surreal.

i don't think salt and watermelon is strange.

i love roasted peanuts wrapped with strips of dried squid. it's an asian thing.

I haven't done this since first year university, but I've discovered that the combination of rice and cottage cheese is surprisingly good.

Peanut butter jelly and (plain) potato chip sandwich

Nacho cheese flavored Doritos and Slim Jims eaten together

@salthands: a friend of mine likes his pizza with pineapple, sliced banana, and pickles. Having tried it myself, it wasn't a shock to the system. I have pineapple and pickled several slices in my time.

Fried egg and peanut butter on toast

Ha! I feel compelled to respond - not only because of my fondness for Nutella (are you serious, Paris Crepes are your FAVORITE vehicle for Nutella? or was that the only PG-rated favorite you could list?) but because I often come up with weird snack combo's that marry just the right sweet/salty/creamy/crunchy combo - for example: Peanut Butter on a small flour tortilla with whipped marshmallow creme and M&M's!

This has got me thinking - perhaps I'll take a few minutes and post some of my favorites over at Chowbelly!

I dip my pizza in a combo of sashimi and Sriracha.

My brother and I like to have our tuna sandwiches with a bowl of spicy chili. The cool mayo contrasts nicely with the hot sauce. I also can't get enough of topping a bowl of mashed potatoes and gravy with peas and a fried egg. YUM!

Apple crumb pie with melted Velveeta cheese on top!

My freshman roommate and I would easily eat a jar of Nutella with a bag of pretzels during mid-terms or finals...I've still been known to indulge in that for a quick fix!

-quesadillas made with cheddar and craisins
-ice cream sodas made with chocolate ice cream and ginger ale
-moon pies with orange juice

Until reading this I thought I was alone in this combo...

Wholewheat Flax Bread, Peanut Butter (Crunchy!), mayo and mustard sprouts....YUM!

chinese-style chile in oil on top of a torn piece of crummy American cheese slice on top of a saltine cracker. spicy on bland on salty.

Soft & Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie with Slice of Brie melted over the top. Delicious!

Saltine with Cream Cheese, Sriracha & Slice of Roasted Pepper (from a jar). Yum!

Black licorice and milk! As a kid, I loved to bite the ends off the licorice end use it as a straw in my milk.

Peanut butter and salami on raison bread - don't knock it until you try it!

vanilla ice cream + rice chex, or white bread and ranch doritos.

"SriRancha" = Sriracha (Vietnamese hot sauce) + Ranch dressing

It's not really a snack on it's own, but you can put it on just about anything.

Duh-Lishus!

I like to dip a spoon in peanut butter and add plain m&m's to it, although that's really not that weird but my Mom likes to eat peanut butter and ketchup sandwiches. I tried once and didn't like it but she loves it.

I also like Cheetos or Ruffles between my peanut butter and jam/jelly sandwiches.

Ice cream and onion rings -- butter pecan is my favorite flavor for this but vanilla is ok too.

Crunchy peanut butter and Mrs. Renfro's Roasted Salsa on toast - my wife tells me she's going to puke every time I fix it for myself.

candy corn and salted peanuts -- tastes like a Payday candy bar

I enjoy celery with cream cheese (although I don't think that's terribly weird). I like sliced apples with peanut butter and grated cheddar cheese on top. One that my husband and I enjoy together is Doritos dipped in cream cheese. They are a hearty chip and hold up pretty well, especially if you use the tub cream cheese. Hmm...seems to be a cheese theme here.

One of my all-time favorites, though it's more than a snack, is home-made hashbrowns with mayonnaise and taco sauce on top.

So tame--pretxles and milk

Into a blender add 3 or 4 ice cubes, a scoop of vanilla tce cream, a shot of strawberry vodka, a shot of brandy and a few cleaned strawberrys and blend. pour into a martini chilled glass and sip with a spoon full of peanut butter. now you're ready to die!

I enjoy Lay's potato chips dipping into cottage cheese, preferably small curd. For an extra treat, add Ranch dressing to the cottage cheese. My wife sprinkles M&Ms on newly cooked popcorn.

melted yellow cheddar cheese eaten with a spoon. just put some shredded cheese in a bowl and pop it in the microwave for a few seconds - simple and delicious!

Potato chips dipped in Vanilla ice cream! Yummy! & I love dry roasted peanuts mixed with bacon bits. Oh and if you eat dry roasted peanuts and candy corn together, it taste like a Pay Day Candy bar! Try it, I'm not kidding!
Happy Snacking!

Freihofer's Chocolate Chip cookies and dark beer. The saltiness makes the combo zing!

Strawberry milkshake with a shot of dark rum.

ranch dressing on celery, oreos in peanut butter

Those dark, almost burnt potato chips with Hunts (not Heinz) ketchup and fresh ground black pepper........

IN A BLENDER ADD 3 OR 4 ICE CUBES, A SHOT OF BRANDY, A SHOT OF CREAM De MENTHE AND A SCOOP OF VANILLA ICE CREAM AND BLEND, POUR IN A CHILLED MARTINI GLASS AND GET A TABLESPOON OF PEANUT BUTTER, KICK BACK AND THINK ABOUT GOOD THINGS. LIFE IS GOOD--- TOO BAD IT'S ONLY FOR A WHILE!

Breakfast sausage (pattie style) on toast with peanut butter and yellow mustard.

Wavy potato chips with cream cheese spread on top!

I've never tried Wendy's frosty with fries, but I enjoy vanilla ice cream with BBQ chips, yummy, it's the sweet and salty combo.

PB and apples, nutella with anything.

7-up or coke with vanilla ice cream, called ice cream float...

Fresh oranges with yellow mustard and at a different time devils' food cookies with pink lemonade.

ALSO PUT IN SOME RAISINS--- YUM!

Yes it seems like it is mostly about the sweet/salty/creamy/crunchy combo , just like Chowbelly said.

Cottage cheese and apple sauce. Basically baby food, but still so good.

I JUST WENT OVER TO CHOWBELLY AND WHAT A SUPRISE, A REAL TREAT. GREAT LOOKING STUFF THERE!!!!!

I like ice cream and popcorn. You have to eat the popcorn really quickly though, so it doesn't get soggy. Best with Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby.

Also, challah and whipped chive cream cheese.

Cheddar cheese in a ice cream cone, then nuked until melted.

Microwave popcorn with Hershey's syrup poured on top. Peanut butter and bread and butter pickle sandwiches. Cream cheese and hot pepper jelly on any type of cracker. French fries rolled in pickle slices and dipped in ketchup and mayo combination. Salami rolled with cream cheese. Hot dogs on a bun with cream cheese, ketchup, mustard, and relish. Saltine crackers with grape jelly.

OK--OK 'IM GONNA GIVE YOU THE BEST-- THE BEST OF THE BEST SNACK SANDWICH OF ALLLLL TIMES!!! NO CHARGE!
2 SLICES OF PUMPERNICKLE BREAD, THIN SLICES OF SWEET ONION, THIN SLICES OF AVACADO AND CREAM CHEESE SPRED ON THE TOP SLICE AND THE BOTTOM SLICE AND LETTUCE ( I SHRED MINE) GOOD LORD, THAT'S SOMPIN GOOOOOOD!

Left over spaghetti sandwiches.
It was more of a need than a pleasure. ha ha.

a couple here for ya- first one is tuna salad (the old fashoined Mom made kind) with canned sliced pears and Lay's potato chips. You take a sturdy lookin chip, put a slice of canned pear and then a spoonful of tuna salad on top of it. Awesome. the other is a "pickle-sickle"- take dill pickle juice and pour it into ice cube trays and stick some kind of short skewer in it and freeze.

Cottage cheese and maple syrup - since I was a kid! Maybe it was my mom's way of persuading me to eat cottage cheese - I guess it worked! Pretzels (the saltier, the better) and bananas - don't remember where I got this one! Potato chips with pineapple cream cheese spread on them - college days craziness, but sooooo yummy! I guess it's the salty-sweet thing. One of the guys I went to college with used to lift up the top crust of his apple pie and pour on some ketchup! I thought this was really wierd and was too afraid to try it, but my sister worked for the Heinz experimental / developmental kitchens at the time and they tried baking apple pies with ketchup, so maybe it was more popular than I thought. However, it never went anywhere, I guess other people were afraid, too!
Anyway, this same guy also ate Milkbones dog treats, so there you go!

I like Cheetos dipped in strawberry yogurt!

I've read all of these and contributed a few and I would have to say that someone will come up with a spectacular, lasting combination that will go down in history like chocolate and peanut butter.
Let's don't stop here!!!!!

Here's one for ya---- how about a celery stick dipped in caramel and than in dry roasted peanuts.
there ought to be a little chocolate there somewhere!

Crisply fried bacon crumbled into GrapeNuts cereal that is sprinkled with white sugar or brown sugar and soaking in half-and-half.

Oops, forgot to mention...Nutella sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies (preferably homemade) and dunked into cafe au lait.

HERE'S ANOTHER FOR YOU, DID THIS WHEN I WAS A KID. A COLD BOTTLE(OR CANNED) OF COKE AND FILLED WITH A PACK OF PEANUTS. DRINK AND CHEW!

Sour Cream and Onion chips, with a Mars bar and a cold glass of milk. Eat chips, bite chocolate bar. Chase with milk. Delicious.

HERE'S A GREAT SANDWICH--- RYE BREAD-SPREAD CREAM CHEESE, ADD BANANA SLICES, SPREAD PEANUT BUTTER ADD SWEET PICKLE SLICES AND SHREDDED LETTUCE.

@old chef: We're happy that you're so enthused about weird snack combos that you've shared several recipes with us all here. But, please, for the love of God, can it with the ALL CAPS already!!!

IT'S LIKE YOU'RE SCREAMING AT US. (See?)

Please turn off your "caps lock" key.

Thanks!

ok----------sorry!

Let's see: banana with a slice of American cheese, breaking off small triangles of cheese for each bite. My absolute favorite when I was little, and I still love it. I think my mom learned it from Mister Rogers.
Also, baby carrots w/ketchup and tortilla chips on the side; raw red cabbage with yellow mustard; and my guilty coming home drunk secret: bowl of white rice with American cheese melted on top. I like American cheese on most anything...

Candy korn, dipped in chocolate syrup followed with salty peanuts.

Last night I had some buttery, salty matzah brie (what? i got leftovers.) with drizzled honey. Mmmmmmnomnomnom.

Frosty and Fries (not weird)

Dunking Chocolate chip cookies in Orange juice... YUMM!

I used to go to the LA Reader office on Friday mornings to collect my mail, then I'd stop in the chain drugstore nearby to pick up a piece of beef jerky, and a package of vanilla creme sandwich cookies, which I'd eat while driving to my day job. Not together, just back-to-back. Can't remember if I ate the jerky or the cookies first, nor why I thought those would make a good breakfast.
