S. Pellegrino's 2009 'World's 50 Best Restaurants List' Released
On the 2009 list, El Bulli is at No. 1 for the fourth year in a row. Fat Duck at No. 2 again. Rounding out the top ten are: Noma (Copenhagen), Mugaritz (San Sebastián, Spain), El Celler de Can Roca (Girona, Spain), Per Se (NYC), Bras (Laguiole, France), Arzak (San Sebastián, Spain), Pierre Gagnaire (Paris), and Alinea (Chicago).

These lists usually all follow the same path: 1 or 2 are split between El Bulli and Fat Duck and the highest in the US goes between Per Se and French Laundry (though I've noticed more nods to Per Se as of late)...and the rest fall somewhere afterward in their shadows

did not expect ssam bar to be on this list, but it makes me smile. there's something really refreshing about that place, their cuisine, and their price/quality ratio amidst (and maybe despite) everything that's been said and heaped upon david chang. as time passes, he gets more praise (and more hate), but ssam bar seems to be getting better and better in my opinion.
