I loved this book, I hadn't heard they were making the movie. Can't wait!

I really enjoyed Heat and Kitchen Confidential; those were books that gave me a chance to peek through a keyhole to a world of professional cooking that I will never ever have access to. But Julie/Julia was a book that actually made me feel like I was there with them, in the trenches of cooking and enjoying all the ups and downs in a tiny kitchen. I absolutely can't wait! Any info on how excited the real Julie Powell is about this movie project?

This is way too exciting. Meryl Streep as Julia Child is brilliant!

I can feel the little bit of manhood I have in me slipping away as I say this, but... that movie kind of looks really good.

Can't. wait.

Zack, no one will ever look at you the same way again. Of course, most of us out in the interweb don't actually see you, so it probably won't be too inconvenient.

Aaaaah!! Meryl Streep as Julia Child is STUPENDOUS!! How did they get her to look tall? Did they just hire a bunch of short French people to walk around her?

@Zach & @marchpane--your comments made me laugh out loud--as did the trailer! I can't wait!

Looks half good...I could live without the Julie part and just stick to Julia.

gracemetcalf, agreed. i HATED the book. what a whiny loser. i love that Julia didn't like her, wasn't really a part of the book, and they've still managed to make this movie about her. :(

gracemetcalf and saltcrystal, I couldn't stand the book either. This movie looks good, but in the book, Julie seemed to whine all the time. I can't stand whiners.

saltcrystal, where did you read that Julia Child didn't like Julie Powell? I would love to about it!

Astoria represent!

I am not a reader, but I picked up the book and couldn't put it down. I'm really looking forward to seeing the film. Only one thing though; Amy Adams = Julie Powell? I don't think so.

Ciao,

Paulie Gee

I loved the book! I laughed so hard, I cried! The bone marrow part, OMG! I hope the movie does it justice. Maryl as Julia, brilliant! Plus, Nora Ephron is directing it, love her stuff. I'm really looking forward to it, probablly will buy the blue ray too!

LOVED the book and the whole thought behind it!

Can't wait!
