In Videos: Dogs Baking Bread
Another reason why Sesame Street just rocks. In this educational segment on baking bread from the early 1990s, William Wegman's Weimaraner dogs knead blobs of dough in floral aprons (with human hands, that's key). The bakers seem pretty apathetic about the whole process, minus the licking the dough part (I feel ya, man!). It's unclear whether this becomes more or less creepy as an adult. I almost forgot about these dogs! Awesome.
Although there are some issues with some of these steps. Somehow they made beautiful bread, though, so I'll go with it.

My one real brush with celebrity: I got to meet, pet and hang out with these dogs on two occasions in the early 1990's. Their owner was cool too.

OMG this is brilliant -- I love it! The Weimaraner dogs weren't on SS when I was a kid back in the 70s. Makes me want to get a Weimaraner! Who knew they could bake bread (and apparently make candles as in another YouTube clip)?

I'm so glad they have human hands. Paws aren't the best for kneading dough! And the thought of my own pup's paws in anything I might ingest is totally offputting!

I loved those dogs when I was a kid. I will always have a soft spot for Weimareiners as a result. Even though they didn't preheat the oven.
