Trader Jose's Organic Rounds Place First in Flour-Tortilla Taste Test

The San Francisco Chronicle reports the results of a flour-tortilla taste test it did with 13 varieties:

In first place, Trader Jose's Organic tortillas ($1.99/12 tortillas) had a "golden speckled surface" and "a good depth of flavor." Tasters thought these were "serviceable" tortillas, "fresh tasting" and "slightly nutty." Four would buy this brand and one might.

And a recipe you might try using with these tortillas: Panuchos Yucatecos con Chorizo. (It calls for corn tortillas, but I'm assuming flour would work, too.)

I'm a big fan of anything from Trader Joe's. Just wish I didn't have to drive 30 min. to get to one!

Those San Franciscans know a lot about mexican food. I'd trust a tortilla taste test if they're conducting it, alright.

Just had these Tortilla's and Trader Joes Carne Asada Thin Sliced Sirloin (bagged) last night for dinner. GREAT. My mom said she's coming over every Sunday for the same dinner. (and yea I had to drive 40 minutes to get to a Trader Joes)

Trader Joe's flour tortillas and breads taste better than supermarket brands because they don't add in dough conditioners, which add a funny taste and smell (you can actually smell it). Most deli wraps have that unpleasant "doughy" taste as well. I wish restaurants and delis would make their wraps from fresh tortillas that don't have any additives in them. They taste so much better, fresher that way.
