Arby's is promoting their new line of Roastburgers, roast beef sandwiches with burger-like toppings, by giving away free Roastburgers tomorrow, Sunday, March 8, to customers who buy any sized drink and say they want to change their burger. Find your nearest Arby's at their website.

I say we start a campaign for an Arby's in NYC. It's borderline incomprehensible that we don't have one.

Oh my gosh I love Arby's curly fries. I haven't had any in so long.
When I was little and we were on road trips, if I saw an Arby's sign, I'd claim to have to pee just to get fries. I thought I was so smart, but my parents had caught on because I could perfectly time my bathroom request when hitting a certain hill en route to my grandparents...

I find it rather depressing a 'serious eats' site could post a suggestion that Arby's could have anything remotely worth trying.

I'm with DanielJ.

Aww, just 'cause we're serious about eats doesn't me we have to get snooty about it. I'm willing to admit when junk food is tasty.

As was as I despise fast food for a number of reasons, Arby's is my weakness. If there was one anywhere near Seattle's Capitol Hill, i'd be feeling hypocritical guilt all the time...

Just back from Arby's, The girl at the register was unaware of the promotion, but the Manager gave the ok. Had the 'Bacon & Bleu'...and I was shocked at how good it was. I would say that it is better than any "burger" McD's offers...FWIW

@tmdpny said "rather depressing"
...Give me a break, you know you want one.

I picked one up today as well, save for some mediocre tomatoes (aren't they all nowadays) It was a pretty good sandwich, a damn good sandwich for fast food.

I had one on Friday night since my BF and I were on the road and we were hungry. I decided to give the "All American" version. AWFUL. I took two bites and couldn't eat any more. I had to order another sandwich. The same girl wound up helping me and asked why I was back in line. I said I didn't care for the sandwich and she gave me a regular roast beef for nothing.

There was something very odd about the sandwich. Then I heard an employee explaining how it was made. I think it's the "charcoal powder" they use to make it try to resemble a burger taste that makes it taste very off/odd.

@Butrflygirly~ "charcoal powder" sounds like the stuff we have to rinse off the activated charcoal we use in our tropical fish tanks' filters...doesn't make it sound very appetizing to me. Glad I read your review, sorry it went (and tasted) so badly for you.

This whole concept made no sense, if it's going to be "burger-like" you would expect it in some sort of patty form, or at least perforated like cubesteaks, just my opinion, better off going somewhere they make real burgers and use real broilers.

@iamon: Thanks and if I can save at least one person, that's fine with me; I've done a good deed. I got it because I wanted to know how they would get roast beef to taste like a beef patty. I was assualted with that sandwich. Roast Beef spinkled with a "charcoal powder" does not resemble/taste like a burger. They should really stick with their original sammies and not get crazy.

That would be that "flame-broiled" fake flavoring. See Burger King. I don't know why people think anything BK has tastes like a burger either.

You apparently can get a free roastburger here, via this march madness promo web page http://www.arbys.com/coupon
