'The Atlantic' Food Site Launches Today

20090313-atlanticshot.jpg

The always thoughtful Corby Kummer enters the realm of food blogs with today's launch of The Atlantic's Food Channel (the always high-minded Atlantic calls all of their blogs channels for some reason). Note to Corby and all the other folks at the Atlantic: blog is not a four-letter word.

Welcome, Corby, and thanks for the shout-out on your welcome post. The list of contributors, which includes Zingerman's Ari Weinsweig, Alinea chef Grant Achatz, and nutrition and food politics guru Marion Nestle, is impressive, and we look forward to conversing with each one of them in due time.

I have to say, after a cursory glance, that it's not very easy on the eye, is it? I look forward to checking it out, but it is visually a little stressful!
But there's always room for another (good) food blog, er, channel, on my list.

I don't care how it looks. I'm pretty excited. The Atlantic is one of my only non-food magazine subscriptions and this will give us more good food coverage. Thanks for posting this, Ed!

@Joy: I wondered if maybe it related to the look of the mag, which would make sense. I am not familiar with the Atlantic. Sorry for the critique-with-out-looking-closely, I have just been up to my eyeballs in redesigning a couple of our sites and that's all I could think of when I saw it.

I agree with Cary's comment...this is an eyesore. Not so much a blog as a data dump created to do little more than sell ads.

If you really care about food, you should read it because it is very informative.
