So Good's Meat Madness Brackets
March is the month for brackets. Jon Eick at So Good makes it food-related by pitting 32 meats against each other, with readers voting daily to advance their favorite animal protein to the final match: "We have 4 regions. The 'Red' Meat Region, the Poultry Region, the Pork Region and the Seafood Region."
My money's on bacon (the No. 1 seed in Pork) to win the thing. Its other highly ranked rivals are steak, lobster, and chicken—all No. 1 seeds in their divisions—though I think chicken is ripe for an upset.
Looks like there's still time to vote in the first round.Eick released the bracket yesterday. Voting begins tomorrow, so check back and support your favorite meat.

i can't figure out how to actually vote on that page
also, what a crime to leave off Jamon Iberico from the pork bracket. It would stomp every other meat out there.

ah, okay, it's not that there's still time to vote, it's that voting hasn't even started yet.
i'm also offended at the omission of goose. and yeah, i'm the guy who suggested putting a qualifying matchup in there between roast beef and human flesh.
what about a mystery meat category? schwrama? hot dots? Spam? ALpo? Potted chicken? vienna sausages?

@mr guy: My bad. Jon released the bracket yesterday, but voting won't begin till tomorrow. I guess he's giving us all time to get out bets in.

Bacon is overrated, though there are enough fans that I think it'll end up winning the whole thing.
I can't believe crab is only a 6 seed - really? Shrimp, salmon, and tuna above it? I can't picture that logic.

Forgive me for being a neophyte foodie, but I had no idea that rabbit was considered poultry.

@hungryhungryhippo
I actually explained in my post how rabbit came to be there. Much like when a team from the east coast gets sent to the West coast bracket, a few exceptions had to be made to fill out the bracket, one of which was putting rabbit in the poultry bracket (lamb being placed in the red meat bracket was another).

@So Good
i'm looking forward to next year- i'd love to see an expanded field that includes the suggestions above as well as moose, frog, snails, pancetta, guacanale, wild boar, oysters, eel, catfish, sea urchin, various forms of roe, ox, and guinea pig.

Steak is going to own this tourney. I love Raost Beef, but Steak got my vote.
Veal or Buffalo. Don't like buffalo meet yet I think veal should be outlawed, so I picked Buffalo. It's a shame roast beef had to go up against steak, as it's ten time better than veal and buffalo. Either way, steak will win the braket as wel as the entire thing.
