While in Austin for South by Southwest Interactive this week, Zach Brooks woke up to arguably one of the best complimentary motel breakfasts. The downtown Austin branch of La Quinta had a DIY Texas-shaped waffle iron. You know state pride runs deep when waffles are involved. The iron is actually available on Amazon for $59.95.

ok, couldn't help myself... either the picture, or the waffle are backwards...

haha! my bad. Clearly I don't know what Texas looks like... I had the waffle upside down (lord help me, I'm not that bright). Nothing a little photoshop can't fix...

I KNOW Carol wants one of these.... :)

Oh, holy cow; that's gonna make this native Texan (and Austinite) go absolute bat-$h:t crazy. PLEASE fix the photo. That's just NOT right.

I echo Lara_Nell's call - flip the poor thing, flip it, please!

Now I don't feel so stupid for confusing my Vermont and New Hampshire pancakes.

Further evidence of a reversed pic: the fork goes on the left as any fine Waffle House diner knows.

Fix it, fix it, fix it! (Looks delish)

WTF....it's backward..... Are you trying to make a point here?

Oh I see that you've made you're point.....

"Clearly I don't know what Texas looks like"

you're the one that's a little "backward"....lol

Anything is better than that albino waffle bastard I googled. Thank god its browned ffs.

backwards texas hurts my head.

@everyone: A Texas waffle that looks like Texas! Your eyes can stop melting now.

Whoa! I had a similar shaped waffle at a Galveston La Quinta hotel- they went all out with the available toppings too... blueberry sauce, strawberry sauce, whipped cream... the list was a bit longer than that but I think that's all I had.

I wonder if it's still there, after the hurricane...

I found these Texas Shaped Waffle Irons online at Mission Restaurant Supply for $46.75. Looks like they stock them at their showrooms as well in Austin, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi.
