Jacques Torres: 'M&M's and Snickers Bars Rule'

The Huffington Post's Jane Levere posted about a panel discussion chocolatier Jacques Torres participated in at New York's 92nd Street Y. It turns out that, just like millions of people around the world, Torres has a keen appreciation for M&M's and Snickers bars.
Surprisingly, when asked which chocolatiers he respected most, Torres mentioned not only Francois Pralus, a contemporary French chocolate-maker famous for his single-origin bars, but also Forrest Mars.
"If I can go back in time and work with someone, I would love to work with Mr. Mars. I love the character, he was a very interesting man. He created the two first candies in the world today, M&M's and the Snickers bar. I find that unbelievable," he said.
I'm down with meeting Mr. Mars, but I also want to meet Peter Paul Halajian, who developed the Mounds bar. Which candy-maker would you like to meet, serious eaters?

John Cadbury & the Pearson Brothers. I'd want the Pearson brothers to make me a 7-Up bar. Boy I miss those!

I think Torres might be a bit off here. It looks like Forrest Mars Sr. invented the Mars bar in 1932 and M&M's in 1940. The Wikipedia entry on him doesn't mention Snickers at all. Fun fact: The Snickers bar was named after one of the Mars family's favorite horses.

John Cadbury, no doubt! Or rather, whomever specifically invented the Cadbury Mini-Eggs. Oh god, want some now.

The genius that decided raisins should be covered in chocolate...I'm giving that person a kiss. Male or female, I don't care.

Ferrero, inventor of Nutella. Mmmmmmmm.

@lawofmurphy; I'm with you there.
Also; consider the Kit-Kat. It is a law universally acknowledged that everyone likes Kit-Kats. Who first looked at a bit of sugary wafer and thought 'That needs some chocolate'? Whoever it was, I like his style.
And if you haven't tried the dark chocolate version, do. Oh God yes, do.
Fun random fact. An old friend, Marcella, was the chocolate buyer for Fortnum & Mason in London. She flew around the world, sampling the world's finest chocolate for a living. She was very precise about it...each piece was broken up into four sections. One was chewed quickly, one was chewed slowly, one she just let dissolve on her tongue, and one she just smelled. She was also stick-thin and drop dead gorgeous, which many found irritating.

i'd have to agre with Torres, M&M's and Snickers and pretty darn good. I often get a craving for a snickers and could get through a ton a M&M's very easily

Would have to be the Snickers bar and peanut M&M's person, Mr. Mars. I have 2 large packs of the peanut M&M's at home now, it is all I can do not to open them! Also have a pack of fun-size Snickers from Halloween awaiting to be opened too.
