In Videos: Rachel Maddow Mixes Drinks with Jimmy Fallon

20090325-fallon.jpg

MSNBC political commentator Rachel Maddow appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. She called out Fallon on his cocktail of choice—a gin and tonic—telling him she thinks he "can drink a more manly drink." She mixes him a Bijou (gin, vermouth, and chartreuse). "Sounds like a little dog," Fallon says.

Mixing cocktails while guesting on other shows seems to have become a bit of a shtick with Maddow, but who can blame her? Half the people in the audience probably don't agree with her views, and making drinks is a nice way to avoid talking politics.

Can chartreuse really make something more manly?

I would like to try one of those...I've never heard of Chartreuse. Looks sort of like a Manhattan. I wonder if it would pair well with my multigrain cherrios and banana?
I *heart* Jimmy Fallon.

If Chartreuse doesn't man it up, at least it'll make it easier to digest.

I can think of few people I'd like to have a drink (or three) with than Rachel Maddow. She's so smart and funny.

I did like it when she said Chartreuse tasted like hell, but when mixed with other things it was great. Funny stuff.

What's wrong with not agreeing with one's views? That's politics, baby.

If you watched the show, she made fun of his drink of choice, which was a Bud Light with lime. She suggested the Gin and Tonic because he liked gin, but made the Bijou because it was a little fancier to watch.

@lo82070 i agree i think she great

Not sure about the cocktail but love Maddow!
