Employee Resigns via Letter Written in Frosting on Cake

20090316-resignation-cake.jpgNext time you give notice, say it with a cake. W. Neil Berett's resignation letter, piped on to a sheet cake, was apparently "delicious and well received."

Dear Mr. Bowers,
During the past three years, my tenure at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard has been nothing short of pure excitement, joy and whim.

However, I have decided to spend more time with my family and attend to health issues that have recently arisen. I am proud to have been part of such an outstanding team and I wish this organization only the finest in future endeavors.

Please accept this cake as notification that I am leaving my position with NWT on March 27.

Who knew naval shipyard workers were so awesome at resigning?

That is freakin' fabulous.

Here's an interesting turn-around: with all the thousands of people getting laid off or downsized these days, wouldn't it be interesting to get your pink slip in the form of a cupcake? "You're Fired" in pink piping. Talk about a "Let them eat cake" moment.

I kind of want to quit my job just so I can send one of these.
Kidding!

what if he's being facetious? Does that make it a layered cake?

It's not that Naval employees are awesome at resigning, because Hunters Point is no longer a Navy facility! Now, it's one of the largest artist communities in the country. Many of the the former barracks and offices were converted into artist studios a couple of decades ago, and it's grown and grown since then. I always love visiting there during open studio month. :D

now there's a kid i'd re-hire in a minute!

very creative@_@ but if the note is so important that I can't eat it!

Who knew there were white people in Hunters Point?

That rocks... God, I love creative people!!!

It's a bad time to be quitting your job right now. Trust me on that one. It's a competitive job market out there right now, and emloyeers are lowballing their starting wages.

It is good to know that someone else decided to quit this pathetic rat race we've created for ourselves, in order to have more tim ewith their family.

Thumbs up! I kind of wish that I was quitting my job, just so that I could do this!

@ eleeb: LMAO
