Skittles-Infused Vodka, Taste the Alcoholic Rainbow

20090212-skittles-vodka.jpgForget apple-tinis and wow your cocktail-loving friends with the bright colors and fruity flavor of Skittle-infused vodka.

I know, you haven't concocted strange liquors since you were a teenager hiding a bottle of Kahlua from your parents so you could secretly make milkshakes with it. Oh, wait, that was just me. These colorful bottles of alcohol are sure to be the life of the party when you follow these instructions to make your own Skittle-flavored vodka and dish out neon yellow vodka sodas, ruby red Cape Cods, or cobalt blue martinis to your friends. And, it's a whole lot cheaper than buying that fancy flavored stuff. [via Neatorama]

Skittles are a delicious candy product!

I wonder how long the finished product will stay good? I guess as long as it's kept cold?

Homer: Got any of that beer that has candy floating in it? You know, Skittlebrau?
Apu: Such a beer does not exist, sir. I think you must have dreamed it.
Homer: Oh. Well, then just give me a six-pack and a couple of bags of Skittles.

Were you high when you invented this?

After flirting with making limoncello; I think I might try my hand at this! However, like erinlovestoeat says, how long will the product keep?
I'm thinking this might be fun for Christmas presents for the hard to shop for friends!

Hmmm, reminds me of my Freshman year of college when my friends and I would chase Smirnoff flavored vodka shots with skittles . . . or sour patch kids . . . or Lucky Charms . . . or Frosted Mini Wheats . . . .

Hey now, I still make infussions.

Awesome! Skittles have always been my favorite candy, vodka my favorite drink! This is a match amde in heaven.

I am pretty sure Skittle infused vodka will last for a long time since there isn't actual matter in the mixture. Also, freezing is always a good idea both for the taste and preservation.

This reminds me of putting Jolly Ranchers in Zima in college. Though I'm thinking this would taste a lot better then that.

Although I've never tried this one I've made quite a few of my own flavored vodkas and they all keep fine, even on the counter. That being said I also keep my vodka in the freezer so if you have room that would probably be best.

This tempts me to branch out into other candies I like. But somehow Raisinet flavored vodka does not sound very good.

Too bad I got here so late. I have made this concoction and only just this weekend polished off the last of it. Let me say that it was dangerously good. None of the flavors required a chaser and purple vanished within a day (between 4 people, of course). Shaking and a few days of sitting time really is required and straining out the wax is a messy, yet grossly fascinating activity. I made mine in 7 mason jars (I combined original and some berry flavors to complete the rainbow) and it looked lovely. I really should have taken a picture.

'dangerously good'? i thought it tasted like 'triaminic' - the kiddie cold medicine.
