How George Washington Ate

20090216-gwashington.jpgWhat was George Washington's diet like back in the 1790s? Hoe cakes, fish, ice cream, smoked ham, and homegrown vegetables were some of his regularly eaten foods.

The beers mentioned were most likely Georges home-made brews. On various beer sites there are recipes for GWs Porter that was reportedly his favorite.

Hoe cakes....heh heh.

I am a child.

I highly recommend the other two links from that article--how to eat like Thomas Jefferson, and how to eat like Abraham Lincoln. Really fascinating! Thanks for that great linkn!
