For the Road Warrior: Dining Out Near U.S. Airports

Portfolio magazine unearths some "hidden gems" near some of the biggest airports in the U.S., including but not limited to Atlanta (Brake Pad), Chicago (Giordano's, Lou Malnati's), Dallas–Fort Worth (Via Real), Los Angeles (Mariposas).

And near St. Louis' Lambert International - which USED to be a hub, sigh - is Los Tarascos, which is divine. Info here:

Delicious, and within a mile.

I had some wings in a bar near the Montreal airport, and one of the wings still had feathers attached, cooked right into the breading or whatever it was they were cooked in.

But the rest of my Montreal food experiences were wonderful.

Am I the only business traveler that thinks this article is ridiculous?

Within a mile of the airport, sure absolutely noteworthy. But 7 miles? 4 miles? That's not an airport meal.

mapgirl, you're right. But it's our American sense of distance. I'm not about to rent a car just to go to a restaurant off-premises. A cab, maybe. Maybe.

la bodega winery inside the dallas airport is pretty cool. there is local wine (i heard a rumor that they actually make some within the airport) and they have some nice cheese plates and whatnot.
