20090216-southby.pngLooking through the panel offerings at the 2009 South By Southwest Interactive Festival, I've found a few food- and drink-related panels. What an awesome lineup! I am excited to see a bunch of my favorite food-writer people on the aptly named "nom nom nom" section.

Yeah, the Nom Nom Nom panel looks like the one I'd be most likely to attend if I were going. Then again, I'm biased toward food bloggers.

Yeah, I'm excited! Are any other Serious Eaters going to SxSw?

I'm obviously also excited about my Nom Nom Nom panel. However, very sadly SXSW doesn't allow outside food into the convention center, so we can't give out free cupcakes (I didn't know that when I put that in). Boo. But...we are planning a cupcake party for sometime during SXSW. Stay tuned to Cupcakes Take the Cake (and we'll let Serious Eats know too of course) for details once it's all booked.

Please do come to Nom Nom Nom though! I think it's a varied panel, with 2 bloggers with book deals and we'll be sharing what we know about how to run a food blog.

I'm going!!! It's one of my fave times in Austin.

@rkb - why you gotta make those of us without book deals feel bad? :-)

OMNOMNOM!!! :)

I will be there (heck, I live in Austin!), and don't forget Rachael Ray will be back for the 2nd year in a row with her day party. Her husband plays for a band called Cringe.

@Zach Brooks - you know I love you, right? You make me missing eating lunch in Midtown. Also: book deals for everyone (on our panel)! (That is my prediction/wish for 2009).

Thanks for the mention! Our lineup has shuffled slightly...here's the description for Sustainable Food 2.0:

Nonprofits and social entrepreneurs are making
access to sustainable food easier with shortcodes, social networks,
advocacy tools, and location-based platforms. The founder of
Farmsreach will share her vision for this web platform for local,
sustainable food. We'll discuss the evolution of Monterey Bay
Aquarium's Seafood Watch to mobile access, and the recent launch of
their iPhone app. The advocacy work of the American Farmland Trust
will be covered, including some surprises about SEM. We'll share how
the Sierra Club's global warming social network Climate Crossroads is
using food to engage users in a challenging issue. With snacks!

I'm so excited to be going to SXSW this year. Thanks for spotlighting the food-related content.
