Hey, Cake Wrecks is stuffing the ballots! Put some sort of thing at the top of the pages here so everyone will know to go vote there. Serious Eats is the best!

I placed my vote, because, really, this is the best food site on the web. I am hopeful that the people running the contest notice the ballot stuffing on Cake Wrecks. No way those numbers are real.

Whether the numbers are real or not, it is hard to understand why Cake Wrecks would be considered a food blog. It is certainly not in the class of Serious Eats and several of the other nominees. Someone in charge messed this up!!

I'll be honest--I'm a Cakewrecks fan. But when they posted the call to vote for the food blog award, I couldn't help but wonder what the blog that had been in first was like.
And let me tell you: I am now hooked on Serious Eats. This site is much more professional and, honestly, more interesting than one-note cakewrecks. Good luck, Serious Eats--I'm voting for you!

Cake Wrecks didn't do anything but ask people to vote, which is fine. I think someone has hacked the Flash voting booth of the Weblog Awards and is stuffing the ballot box, though. Or maybe Cake Wrecks was mentioned on TV, hence the flood. But I agree: a link at the top of every post from now until the end of the awards will help!

I love me some Cake Wrecks and Jen's funny commentary. It's an awesome blog, but we're talking best food blog here. Go Serious Eats!

I can't help but feel something is wrong here; I mean, okay, Cake Wrecks IS pretty damn funny and a great way to kill time while looking at some terrible cake design.
But...Serious Eats produces a large volume of top-notch posts and covers a vast array of food topics.

Um, hi,
This is john (the hubby of Jen) from Cake Wrecks and I wanted to make a brief couple of points.
1. We put in a formal request to be moved to the Best Humor Blog Category but they wouldn't budge.
2. I guess Cake Wrecks is technically about food, but for sharing of recipes, helpful hints and general foodie fun, Serious Eats rocks absolutely.
3. There is no ballot stuffing, I promise. We have a bunch of very cool readers who we are eternally grateful for.
4. Lastly, did you know that you can't even remove your site from contention once it has been nominated in a category?
Next year, we will be sure that we are placed in the correct category and it will be a blowout for Serious Eats. Wreck on and no hard feelings.

not a bad site and pretty clever but I agree, it belongs in the "funny" category.

Sounds like newbs flying by the seat of their pants. Not saying their job is easy, but why do something like this if you're not even the slightest bit prepared? It's not like they just sprouted up 2 months ago and had no clue.
Cake Wrecks is amusing, just like I Can Has Cheezburger, but I wouldn't classify them under Best Food Blog just like I wouldn't classify I Can Has... under Best Pet Blogs (oh wait, they ARE!). Of course, the categories aren't the fault of the the blog owners, but I think someone at Weblog Awards should have been accountable or had the sense to correctly categorize certain blogs.
