When I think about which celebrity chef would have a kick-ass menu at his or her Super Bowl, my thoughts always gravitate to Bobby Flay. And why not? He's a really good cook, he's a serious sports fan, and his food definitely lends itself to football-watching on TV. So the serious eaters at world headquarters here went through all the Bobby Flay cookbooks we had in the office looking for recipes that we could easily and quickly make for our own Super Bowl parties.
His chipotle-honey-glazed wings with toasted sesame seeds and green onion sound delicious even if you have to make them in the oven instead of on a grill (we know it's winter). His wild mushroom quesadillas would hit the spot at halftime, wouldn't they?
We found a couple of kick-ass dips, too. Like queso fundido with a roasted-poblano vinaigrette, or spicy hummus dip with grilled pita and veggies. They both sound seriously delicious, don't they?
I've always thought Flay's Mesa Grill burger was first-rate, so we included that recipe, too.
A couple of other Bobby Flay recipes, like the Mesa Grill potato salad and the jicama slaw, have been previously posted on Serious Eats.
We don't know who Bobby is rooting for this year (he is a born and bred New Yorker married to Stephanie March, a Texan, so there is no obvious choice), but I think we can be fairly certain he's going to eat well while watching the game with his family and friends.
