President Barack Obama Loves His Honest Tea

20090129-honestea.jpgFrom the New York Times: "There is also a new addition to White House cuisine: the refrigerators are stocked with the president’s favorite organic brew: Honest Tea, in Mr. Obama’s preferred flavors of Black Forest Berry and Green Dragon."

Wow, another fascinating Obama factoid from the NYT! I wonder what kind of hemorrhoid cream he uses...

In the recent tea thread, I was surprised that I was the only one who mentioned Honest Tea. Now, I know I'm in stellar company - POTUS! I might be interested in what type of cream he uses in his coffee, or his favorite ice cream, but the one soyviz mentions........not so much.

He won't release detailed medical records, soyviz, so we don't know about whether he actually needs to use hemorrhoid cream. But that's off-topic, anyway, and would be more appropriate for our sister site, Serious Seats. Here, we just prefer to analyze his food choices endlessly.

I blogged about his choice of roid cream on my Webby Award Winning blog "All About Asses" back when he was attending Secret Muslim School in Iran.

Theres a peppermint Honest Tea flavor named after him. I saw it while on a break from my 3 hour archaeology lecture but I needed something with sugar to keep me awake through clay pot fragments so I skipped it and went for a Snapple. But the tea did look good! And I had been wondering why they named a tea after Baracky but now it makes sense!

Lmao @ Serious Seats. :D

I totally attended the Secret Muslim School in Iran too. They have Bohemia Bagel burgers on their cafeteria menu, fyi.

Coincidentally, I just happened to try a Black Forest Berry today. Delish.

Talk about an endorsement.

Well, I'll agree that our obession with "What does Barak like?" is getting out of hand...but more importantly, does he know Honest Tea is now owned by Coca-Cola? That alone made me stop drinking it....

Oh crap (get the joke....crap? haha). Now CC is getting even more of my money.

Coke owns a minority stake in Honest Tea, as does the founder of Stonyfield Farm, Gary Hirshberg. Seth Goldman, Honest Tea's founder and CEO has been running the company for 11 years and needed the distribution network of a large beverage company to help grow the company. See the CEO's own rationale in his blog at Inc. magazine: http://blog.inc.com/the-mission-driven-business/2008/02/
