Fake Brands Mall Set to Open in China

20090106-pizzahuh.jpgThe Mirror has a story about a fake-brands mall in China, where food options include McDnoald's, Bucksstar Coffee, and—the best one—Pizza Huh. The pictures on the site are just crappy enough to make me think this might be some sort of Photoshop hoax, but the website reports that there's been some anger about the venture: "City bosses are under pressure to ban the soon-to-be opened mall after pictures of the fake stores were leaked, causing uproar amongst angry consumers who feared they'd be ripped off." What other fake names could we make up?

please tell me they will have a Booger King

Homer: Look at these low, low prices on famous brand-name electronics!

Bart: Don't be a sap, Dad. These are just crappy knock-offs.

Homer: Pfft. I know a genuine Panaphonics when I see it. And look, there's Magnetbox and Sorny.

If you've eaten it, and we all have, it's truly Pizza Huh!

Here's my attempt:
Mrs. Noodles,
Bananabees,
Westside Luigi's,
CUGGI
fingerbook
Toys'rnt'Us

Ohh.. I hope they have a CRAPPLEBEES !! (oh wait.. that's their real name round here)

Funny, every time I eat there I mutter "pizza??? huh?"

Dunkin' Dog-nuts.

Could be some truth to this. A trip through SE Asia revealed all sorts of fake brand delights! Exact logo rip-offs, different names. My favorites included "Burger Hot" and "Pizza Hot" in Saigon. .

There was also a "Food Humor" in-the-style of Good Humor...and the ice cream wasn't bad!
