In Videos: SNL Digital Short, 'Cookies'

20081215-snl-cookies.jpg

I'm probably a sucker for continuing to watch Saturday Night Live after the election (it's returned to its usual lackluster self), but sometimes a skit or two does right. Like this SNL Digital Short.

Guest host Hugh Laurie announces layoffs at a company meeting, but Fred Armisen only cares about scarfing up the cookies in the middle of the table.

The skit was amusing enough watching Armisen crawl across the table and say crazy things ("I wish I could stop. Someone should put the security guards on cookie patrol"), but you'll explode with laughter about 20 seconds from the end. Video, after the jump.

If I were famous and SNL asked me to host I think I'd say no. Since I'm not I'll just berate the ones that say yes.

Although food related, this was definitely not the strongest skit. I laughed at the Christmas dinner, unfortunately not available online.

i could just watch sesame street if i wanted to see cookie monster

The funny part to me is that I recognize the cookies - they're those little german gingerbread cookies that come in bags of assorted shapes/finishes (they're all the same flavor but they have chocolate covering, or a white glaze or a white glaze with chocolate stripes).

Awwww... where's the SNL love. I watched this skit on Saturday night and thought it was very funny in a wonderfully subtle way.

I actually thought it was funny UNTIL the ending "punch-line"

The Christmas dinner was amazing. This was...ok.

Yeah, it was actually funny until the punch line. Everyone has been in a situation where something else is going on, and some rude/hungry person eats WAY too much of the free food and samples to the point of comedy.

It was cute- nothing spectacular, but good for a chuckle!
