Rocks for Dinner

A lot of things rock, but eating rocks doesn't always top that list. This spread was featured at the annual Eureka Gem Show at the Redwood Acres fairground in California. From the pork chops to the peas to the buttered baked potato, every part of this meal was made from rocks, gems, and minerals.

Haha! Reminds me of stone soup! Does anyone remember that story?

oooh, there was a similar exhibition at the Asia Civilizations Museum in Singapore... the neatest was the dongbo pork, with rock bands of quivery fat =)

This is very clever, and I'm always appreciative of the time and attention to detail to do stuff like this. I still think that not much can top Meatscapes by Nicholas Lambert - even though it's a different media format: http://machineanimalcollages.com/

I have a rock my mother found in a bag of russet potatoes. It looks exactly like a potato, but I doubt there's anything fluffy inside. She got the biggest kick out of it, and I inherited it. When I tell people I inherited a huge rock, they always imagine something else. ;0
