What to Do with Leftover Rice?
"My family eats leftover rice like hot cereal. Warm with butter, cinnamon, sugar, and milk. I have also had pretty good luck freezing rice." —vickiee
Adding Flavor to Plain Cheesecake
"Chambourd is a nice addition if you don't mind purple cheesecake, or try adding canned crushed pineapple to the cheese batter (after draining)" —Meat guy
Do You Enjoy Eating Game?
"I'm just reading a book called the Scavenger's Guide to Haute Cuisine, written by Stephen Rinella, about hunting for all the various birds, fish, and beasts needed to prepare a multicourse three-day-long feast using recipes by Escoffier, then butchering and preparing them into elaborate concoctions like galantines, quenelles, mousses, and terrines. His point of view is sort of hard to take since I'm the type of person who will go to the park for the express purpose of feeding squirrels, but I admire his passion." —cybercita
What Can I Do with Fresh Bacon?
"The sky is the limit. I would make bacon or pancetta for sure. To cook, braise it with chinese spices, some mirin and hoisin, slice it thin, served with pickles, julienned carrots and pears, and sriracha, to make a faux Momofuku pork bun (you'll need to find a chinese bakery for the buns.) I like to cut it into 2" x 3" rectangles, sear it quickly on all sides and then roast it in the oven atop leek whites and quartered apples, basted with a little butter and lemon juice...." —simon
Decadent Cookies: Which Is the 'Worst'?
"My aunt makes an amazing browned butter cookie, I swear that you can taste the butter in every bite" —annabanannas
Is 'Unitasker' Really a Bad Word?
"I think it's about picking your battles. If you have a bagel slicer, avocado slicer, apple corer, mozzarella slicer (Batali sells them, sigh), etc., etc., and can't see the bigger picture that a knife can do all of these things, that's a problem. But, hey, if it is something that you use frequently enough that it DOES save time and/or energy, then I'm fine with it. It doesn't have to be a steadfast rule. But I definitely thing avoiding unitaskers is something to keep in the back of your mind when a gadget that only does one thing catches your fancy." —megannesta
